I need a code monkey @ ZAM to do some digging. Whose posts take up more disk space, gbaji or Joph?

It would probably take about a year to even run the query. I'd guess even with Gbaji's propensity for text Jophiel probably still has a slight edge just because many of is posts are also rather lengthy.

They're actually precisely equal, which is the only thing that keeps this place running. If either one began to outnumber the other, the ZAM servers would explode.

Would one be able to total all of gbaji's words for the month of November?

He may inadvertently win NaNoWriMo

My brain tells me gbaji takes up more space. His old EQ posts were tomes.

However, this is a gaming forum. I'm more inclined to go with the mythical. This.

So Gbaji could have 100,000 posts if he learned when to shut up. Ironic, isn't it?

I was going to make a snide remark about quality/quantity, but then I realized that both of them are in the "quantity" category, just in different ways.

Actually, I'd have that many if I split my responses into multiple posts instead of one big one each time. Hmmm...

I'm also curious if... Oh damn!

I'm curious? What are the units on those? There's some professors crying right about now. I'm assuming that's in bytes, but you never know...

I believe it's in characters, so doesn't take into account any post overhead, just the number of characters you've typed. So basically yes.

I'm way too lazy and not at all inclined to go in and strip markup or quotes inside each post.

Ah. The label "total_space" made me assume it was some measurement of disk spaced used, and not a character count. Assuming characters, and using the old "5 characters per word" calculation, that means my posts only average 285 words each? Well, that's not so bad really. I'm positively terse! ;)

Don't forget to count every time he used it within a post, not just if he used it in the post.

For example, if you used look 4 times in a single post it should add 4 to the total. No cheating and simply counting the posts that contain 'look'.

Do we then get to compare the number of times I've used it to the number of times the president has in various speeches and whatnot? Cause we should be fair here, right?
