....it's all the rage round here atm.
One Mom's Blog
I have a friend, she's a mom, and a SO, and a lesbian. She's one of my favorite people. She's also a vocal advocate of equal rights.
Anyways, she linked me this blog and we were talking about it. She said upon reading this she felt guilty in her relief that her little boy (he's nearly six) so clearly wanted to portray more traditional 'male' characters at Halloween. He's been a fireman, a construction worker, an astronaut, etc.
For you new parents, or old parents or non-parents:
- I doubt any good parent would make such claims as to disown a child who finds they are gay, but would you try and discourage 'gay' behavior if you spotted it early on?
- What is more important as a parent: allowing and encouraging your child to be themselves, follow their dreams etc etc, or to protect them from vocal if not physical bullying and/or violence that is likely to occur if they do appear outwardly gay?
Are there any parents of gay children posting here?
