You know the score.

I am a young woman and I would always offer my seat to an old person:7 (16.3%)
I am a woman and I feel patronised if a man offers me his seat:1 (2.3%)
I am an old person and I feel patronised if a young person offers me their seat:1 (2.3%)
I am a woman and I think it's charming if a man offers me his seat:7 (16.3%)
I am an old person and I think it's charming if a young person offers me their seat:3 (7.0%)

Option 1. If it's at all crowded, I just stand either way. I'll only then move to a seat if it's been left empty by the others standing around it for a bit.

I'd usually rather stand than sit in a crowded subway anyways; more chances to cop a feel when the train sways.

I hate when business men/women carry their luggage and feel the need to put it on the seat next to them and pretend to not notice anyone else to prevent someone from sitting next to them.

This, also. (I'm reserving judgement on Flea)

If it's an older, obviously feeble person, then sure I'll give up my seat. If it's a young-to-middle aged person who appears to be able-bodied, then usually not.

The question you ask kinda doesn't match the choices in the poll. There's no option to *not* give up one's seat, only two options for people feeling patronized if a seat is given up for them.

Push poll?

None of the above, really. It entirely depends on what I'm up to. Being way above average in age on the buses I normally take, I feel I have the right to stay in my seat if I'm actually doing work. If I'm just idly sitting there without being productive, it's different.

However, I will readily give up my seat if someone unbearably gross moves in on the seat next to mine. There's far too many people of that sort in Basingstoke. Maybe I should blame them for the deadlines I don't meet.

I do my best to avoid crowded busses/trains if at all possible, if I happen to end up in one I'll give up my seat for old people.

None of the above, exactly. I'll give up my seat to anyone who appears to need it, including the elderly and anyone who appears to be having a problem standing (or who just seems really tired).

I don't feel patronized when someone offers me a seat. I think it's nice. Usually I thank them but decline.

I appreciate it; means your butt is around eye-level.

I'll give mine up if there's someone who needs it, but I won't give it to a woman just because she's a woman, she has legs, she can stand up like everyone else. If she's pregnant though, sure!

Same, only I'm not really sure how I'd feel if someone offered me a seat, as they never have.

Where's the "F'uck off, get here earlier if you want a seat" option?

I will give up my seat for the old, infirm, and crippled.

Women don't normally count for any of these.

Though having a ****** is kind of a social crutch...

More or less this for me. Elderly is an always. Giving up my seat to a woman who is in good health really depends on if she looks to be burdened with a lot of stuff to carry or is wearing terrible shoes for walking in. If I have to be honest, if she's wearing a low cut top could also be a factor.
