Well, Maine retained their two democratic congresspeople, but it looks like we elected the angry Rush quoting, tea-party fav Paul Lepage to be out Governor. One of his campaign promises was to do away with my Department. Smiley: eek

Which department is that?
The one that once had to fine Mr. Lepage for non-compliance. The election hasn't actually been called yet. It's 37% for the independent hopefull, 38% for Lepage. I suspect a recount.

Elusive. How droll. I don't use googlewebz. What department does he want to shutter?
He wants to 'merge' all our natural resource agencies into the Department of Conservation, meaning Environmental Protection and Agricultural would be gone.

It won't happen though, Maine's economy is too dependent on it's natural environment.

Varrus, Being in the majority means being responsible for what does and doesn't get done, or haven't you been reading your posts for the last 4 years?

I thought you were going for two years of complete gridlock. You're going to "clean the mess" by doing nothing? Wow... life is easy!

Right. So the plan is to let the country languish for a few years until you get around to doing something. You should put that on a campaign sign or something.

6:2 for picking winners (I'm not worried about margins since either they won or they didn't). Not too shabby for half-educated guesswork.

The plan's to protect this country from the most radical liberal president this countrys ever seen. If that means shutting down govn so be it. Days of the GOP trying to work with liberals is over. Sorry if this upsets you, wait no i'm not.

So, apparently Representative John Boehner is saying that the newly elected Republicans are pledging to create jobs. This may be a stupid question, but how does Washington create jobs?

Oh, I'm not upset. I find it very satisfying to hear you admit that you have no plan except to sit on your hands and let the county flounder for a couple years with people losing jobs, homes & businesses while you say "Well... we're... um... blocking the president!"

Must be hard to love America enough to sit and watch it suffer while you pat yourself on the back.

I thought one of the GOP mantras from the cycle was that Washington can't create jobs. Although I'd guess that, if asked, he'd have some nebulous thing about lowering taxes and yadda yadda.

By changing tax and regulatory laws to encourage businesses to invest in capital and personnel instead of throwing billions at "shovel-ready" road construction projects, or something.

Huh. You need to keep up. I've been predicting a possible/probable House loss for the Democrats for the past year. Remember the quote you used to keep in your sig?

I think Varus was hoping for more gnashing of teeth or something. Sad that he'd find disappointment in last night's electoral victories.

More annoyed here at Georgia picking the corrupt Republican over the slimy Dem.

We're now taking bets over whether Nathan Deal is going to be indicted before his inauguration.

I am thrilled that California has become governable again. We reduced the requirement to pass a state budget from 2/3 to a simple majority.

I eagerly await GOP bills to address the major issues of the day from the house.

I doubt anything substantive will arrive, but the more the better.
