I was going to compare him to The Office but Michael Scott was a regional manager, which is quite beyond the grasp of alma's ambition.

He could be Dwight Schroot. Assistant to the Regional Manager.

Do you all's self a favor and ask any Field Grade officer which grade is the most demanding of the military and listen to what they tell you. I wont tell you because you wouldn't believe me anyway.

Then if you still don't believe it, ask any E9 what the most fulfilling position of the army is as a NCO and listen to what they say. I guarantee you that the two responses will match most of the time.

The comments made here shows a general lack of understanding of how management works. When I worked at McDonalds, it was obviously apparent that the Store Manager had it much worse than the Supervisor (who was over 3 stores).

Yeah, you've got the best job out there and nothing compares and we just don't get it.
But if that's actually true, why do you need to brag about and defend your life so much on a ******* gaming forum?

And just in case you wanted to know, bragging about how awesome your life is on a gaming forum is still just about the saddest thing you can do.

You're just making stuff up.. I didn't say anything about the "best".. You all are so quick to insult and critique, but then get all touchy-feely thenthitive when someone responds. If you want attack things with no responses, then hit a board, because "boards don't hit back".

There's no bragging and defending, it's called posting in debates and discussions. That's the point of Forums. It doesn't matter if this is a gaming forum or a tree-hugger forum. We engaged in a topic and I merely responded to your comments. If you don't like me correcting your ignorance, then don't say ignorant things.

I'm not a NCO, so I can't answer that question, but from hearing stories, I would say the most fulfilling jobs are as follows in no particular order.. E5 (Squad leader), Drill Instructor and 1SG. I was focusing more so on the 1SG, which is the right hand man of the Company Commander, which is a O3.

I can see possibly PSG, but in my experiences, those were the most positions used in a "True story, there I was" story.

You do realize that after freshman English, your classes focus more on your major? The same with every other general education class. Surely you must know this?

So.. you did have to pass an English class, and should know better than the abomination that you just wrote? Or are your logical skills truly that lacking that you can't see how your post is in no way a rebuttal?

Uh.. really?.. if you don't think his post was implying that there was a focus on English while getting a PhD, then you're fooling yourself. I know what you're talking about, but that wasn't what he was talking about or he would have just said grade school and not Super Duper Omega PhD to the Extreme +1 !!!!1one1one1, because not only do you learn that in grade school but gen ed in college is nothing more than a continuation of grade school to keep you at their institution for 4 or more years.

So, no, I stand by my valid counter..

Usually "before", and not "instead of".

Your inarticulacy, your self-delusion, your bragging about mediocrity and your dogged adherence to a command structure that is so obviously failing its paymasters have now transcended 'stupid' and are entering the realms of "artard"

Awww, "you all's self" is a cute regionalism, even if it is an abomination similar to labelling all sweet non-alcoholic beverages as "coke".

I persistently use the incorrect "they", "them", "their", "themself" and "themselves" when talking about an instant of a person or persons in general, because I'd rather be Gender Neutral, and I think that "s/he", "he/she", "his or her" or "his or her self" all read as very clunky. And I hate to use either "he" OR "she" as a universal covering all men and women.
#148 Nov 06 2010 at 11:02 PM Rating: Good
Um, you have to take English classes in college. I assumed that "freshman English" referred to English 101 and 102 that everyone has to take their first year of college. And even if you don't take another English class your entire college career, it's still expected that you know how to use the language, considering that you have to be able to write coherently in order to write research papers, communicate effectively, and even type code for computer programs or website content. Then, of course, there's the graduate acceptance essay.

I try not to pick on Alma for his spelling and grammar (I mean, come on, his arguments have enough to criticize), I'm just trying to point out how one might logically understand LeWoVoc's initial comment. If, that is, one was able to consider things as logically as one says they can.

It's not so much the picking on Alma's grammar and spelling as much as it is his reply to it.
If someone else makes a stupid grammar or spelling mistake it's laughed at and the conversation moves on (or derails into nothingness and bad jokes) but Alma seems to be either too insecure to admit that he can make a mistake or somehow convinced himself that he is perfect and just doesn't make mistakes which leads to him defending things like this with arguments that are rather shaky and a whole new derail is born.

Well, it's not southern. I'm from the south, have been here all my life and I'm guilty of cute/stupid southernisms, but I've never said "you all's self" and I don't think I've heard anyone else say it. And if they did, they were the kind of people that messed up the entire language.

So there ya go, we have our answer.
