NaNoWriMo 2010: This Time It's ImpersonalFollow

#1 Nov 01 2010 at 1:34 AM Rating: Decent
I still have 15 minutes or so left until I get to start, as does everyone else on the West Coast. :-/Never mind that part, was trying to post this 50 minutes ago.

Predictions: Debalic plays Civ5 all month.
Catwho writes more ****.
I manage to finish off mine with a couple of days remaining.

I was actually going to participate this year, since I'm writing again for the first time in a decade, but then I looked over the rules and you can't use a manuscript already underway. What I'm working on, and have no interest in putting on hold to work on something else, is the much-expanded and seriously reworked second-draft of a 220,000-word novel I wrote in a little over 2 months this summer.

Damn. I wouldn't have seen 50,000 words as posing much of an obstacle. I can write a 5,000-7,000 word chapter in a day or two and have been easily doing two chapters a week with very little of the material being c/p'ed from the first draft; it's really a nearly complete rewrite.

I coulda owned that *****. Seriously.

What's the point of this anyway? You don't win any prizes, and the work you put in could have been done at any other point in the year.

Motivating people to write with peer pressure.

Registered. Like I always do, but then I don't finish since other things get in the way. Smiley: frown

ETA: I'm circling around an idea but nothing concrete. I have a few ideas and concepts (like everyone else) but whether I'll flesh anything out is anyone's guess.

I'm hoping that I'll be able to use Catwho as my inspiration.

The NaNoWriMo website is horribly slow today. I've tried to register three times, and I can't get the password emailed to me.

First day of November so the rush is on. Yeah, took awhile for me to log in and update my profile.

So, anyone want to be Writing Buddies?

Sure, what the hell. Obvious username is obvious (since I use it pretty much everywhere).

I did dedicate last November to Civ2, didn't I?

Well, I'm not getting Civ5 anytime soon; as it is I only started playing Civ4 earlier this year, but it's not really my bag.

Writing depresses me. I probably won't even bother this year.

I've been doing Nanowrimo since its second year in existence and 50,000 words is not much so to keep me motivated I do more than the previous year's, I spend the year planning and plotting and by the time Nanowrimo turns up I am bursting at the seams, last year I got my new record of 315,651 words, hoping to reach 390,000 this year. 2nd Nov already and at 35,500 words

I'm sure that Admins don't have the power to change the number of posts that show up under their names...

How many times did people congratulate DF on her 10,000th post?

I'm well aware of that, also of Angsty's weird *** postcount. However I don't see a reason to change your postcount to 8.
I mean, if you're going to do something like that at least change it to Eight

Edit: Or Twenty-seventhousand fourhundred and fifteen

He's a wiki-nerd. You're all welcome.

Anyway, 300k words in a month is retarded and I find it pretty tough to believe. Really, the concept of NaNoWriMo is pretty fUcking retarded, too. I don't think we should be encouraging everyone to write.

You'll be happy to know that NaNoWriMo didn't succeed in motivating me to write.

Well, for some weird reason I decided to register for it and kick myself in the butt to start writing, which is something I've always wanted to do.

I built up a 400 word buffer yesterday by writing 2000, and promptly wasted it today by only writing 300 words. Dammit!

Edit: Ah yeah, I should pad it some by writing some of the **** bits. They go fast.

Yeah, yesterday was entirely unproductive for me. I'm aiming for about 4000 today if possible, which means more likely it'll be closer to 400. EDIT: Yep. 1004. Time for snooze.
