All I can say is I wish Renteria was still a Cardinal. Good luck to both the Giants and the Rangers. I don't particularly care for either team, so I can't say I'll be watching the series, but I can say without a doubt that whoever does win it, has earned it.

I think the Rangers will win it, but I'm rooting for the Giants. When the GF & I visited her folks in California this past summer we got to catch a Giants game & saw Lincecum pitch a complete game shutout (he even got a hit!). That & Brian Wilson's beard will have me rooting for the Giants this world series.

The Yankess are already out so as far as I'm concerned, the World Series has already been won.

I'm here, and no, I never stopped. I eat my f'ucking hat every time Wilson touches a baseball, and I have already purchased a case of Milk of Magnesia and a Costco-sized tub of Tums, but I never stopped believing.

As Kruk and Kuip say...

Giants Baseball = TORTURE

My biggest fear in the series is Molina. Not with his bat, but with his knowledge of our pitching staff. Game one matchup between Lee and Timmy is going to be epic.

Side note, Molina will get a WS ring no matter who wins. Same with Chris Ray, if they put him on the roster.

But the Giants pitchers privately say they miss Molina’s encyclopedic knowledge of opposing hitters.

The same is often said of Yadier Molina in St. Louis. Catching must be a right of passage in that family.

I just enjoyed having Boston knock the Yank Me's out of first place in the last series of the season.

Yea, that salvaged the season for me.

I always find it amusing when people claim that one pitcher beat another pitcher. Even in National League games, the pitchers rarely face each other directly. It's the other team that beats a pitcher. The same can be said for quarterbacks. Quarterbacks of opposing teams are never on the field at the same time, so their performances can't be compared directly to each other, but against the opposite team's offense/defense.

Having said that, I didn't see any games lately, so I don't know if Lincecum is actually pitching better than Lee or not; i was speaking in general.

Lee went 4 2/3rds innings @/104 pitches & gave up 6 ERs w/1 walk @ 7 strike outs.

Lincecum threw 5 2/3rds innings @ 93 pitches & gave up 4 ERs w/2 walks & 3 strike outs.

Lincecum did pitch better than Lee.

But to be fair, Lee went 1/2 at the plate while Timmy went 0-3.

Lincecum definitely out pitched Lee tonight.

Congrats Giants!

Given the collection of superstars to suit up in orange and black over the course of the last 52 years, the squad hoisted the World Series trophy tonight could definitely be counted among the least likely to ever hold that distinction. A cast of characters written off by the most knowledgeable at every level still managed to fight through and overcome. Congratulations to be boys and congratulations to the rest of the long-suffering fans.

I'd completely forgotten about this.

The Rangers and the Giants playing in the World Series? Seriously, did anyone care?

I was more interested than I've ever been for any World Series involving the Yankees or BoSox.

I'll give Lincecum, Lee, and all the others their due, but the only one that really impressed me this series was Renteria. What a clutch guy. I wish the Cardinals had never let him go. Sounds like he might retire now that he has two world series MVP honors, but I'd love to see him stick around a few more years.

I still think Wainwright deserves the NL Cy Young.

You think he was better than Halladay? While their numbers are pretty similar, Halladay pitched 2 more shutouts as well as 20 more innings within the same number of games AND got one more win.

So I think Wainwright almost deserves it, but not more so than Roy.

I'll admit I think a little bit of last year carries over when I say he should get the CY. He was robbed (unintentionally) by his own teammate competing for votes (Waino had the most 1st place votes in '09). And while Halladay's numbers are slightly superior, I also credit his team's offense for making staying in the game less of an issue. Wainright was pulled in the 8th inning at least 10 times because the cards only had a 1-3 run lead with a man or two on base. The Phillies rarely had to deal with such close calls in Halladay's complete games, IIRC.

So yeah, I think he was better than Halladay, even if not statistically. If the Phillies had won the WS, I'd go ahead and concede the nod to the doc.

And I think Lincecum should get it for his playoff performance. However, I'm sure the freak will take the world series ring over another Cy Young any day.

The Cy Young is supposed to be a regular season award. And if we were talking about a playoffs-only Cy Young, I would say Matt Cain without a doubt; no earned runs allowed in 21 1/3 innings (one unearned run against the Braves). Timmy did not have impressive outings against the Phillies (although the Giants kicked the ball around in his second start) or his first start against the Rangers.
