Very awesome day, over 600 people showed up, and we made it on the front page of the big parenting magazine down here. Smiley: grin

Nice DSD! I'm loving the hair, as usual.

But where was your mug of coffee? In your utility belt?

We are moving the celebration indoors this year. After taking the little ones out on candy duty (with travelers in hand and refills at the ready) we will resume drinking in celebration of my impending birthday. It is moving indoors due to the poorly timed baseball game, but that will have the benefit of leaving smelling less like smoke and more like lots and lots and lots and lots of alcohol.

There was no way in hell I could carry coffee around this gig. I chugged it prior to arriving and made do with a can of soda midway through. I had my hands full with cell phone, camera, notepad, and bullhorn

The local haunted house has made drastic changes this year. Previously it was pretty standard; stroll through an old barn/warehouse that's dimly lit and people in costumes jump out and scare you.

This year?

Its Zombie Apocalypse!!!!

Mostly the same, except, and this is great.... you get paint ball guns and get to shoot the zombies. Whoever thought of this is a friggin-genius!!!

A few of my cousins are throwing costume parties. Annual traditions. I'm stumped for ideas. I want to do something with Ray but he doesn't feel like dressing up. Which you have to for these parties. So I need to find something comfortable for him. Any ideas?

Years ago I didn't bother to dress up for Halloween at work. Since I happened to be wearing khakis with a sweater over my dress shirt I told everyone my costume was Lyle Menendez.

That sounds freakishly awesome and completely dangerous all at the same time.

Are the zombies people dressed up? Are there any precautions? Man, I'd hate to be a zombie...

I still wish my daughter had time and energy to decorate her front yard for Halloween. I would go over and help scare the neighborhood, as she gave out candy from a coffin. I did notice they had made some repairs to the Guillotine They have in their front yard year round, but yesterday was her last day at her weekend job for the year and I'm sure she getting ready for Fairy Con next month to do more then maybe sting up a few lights.

The center I go to 3 days a week is having a party Friday, but it's unlikely I'll go. If I did go, it would be in my normal mix of Renn Faire mets steampunk outfit. No way I go if I have to ride 2 buses there and back in my corset. Bumpy painful ride in bus and wearing a corset, isn't worth the fun of showing off my best assets.

That does sound pretty fun. Can you do the zombie grind to level up and get better gears?

I'm guessing that the zombie outfit is padded and they'd have to be wearing face masks. Also, I bet the pressure on the markers is turned down pretty low.

FOOLS! How do you expect to put the zombies down if you remove the stopping power of your weapons?

I didn't even know you could do that. I know nothing about paint ball guns other than they can sting like a *****.

I wonder how fast some asshole customer will end up shooting someone who doesn't work there in the head. Smiley: lol

Seriously, that'd be freaking awesome. Not the shooting someone in the head thing.

We didn't decorate this year due to the weather. Smiley: frown

I'm hoping that maybe we can do a bit of decorating on Friday or Saturday before the festivities begin in the neighborhood.

Someone on one of my local FPS gaming servers was mentioning a "zombie apocolypse run" the other night. Apparently it starts as a huge crowd and random people are tagged as zombies. Those people perform some action to convert others to zombies and at the end, a final tally is taken. I think he said there was something like a 50% conversion rate in 5 minutes.

Anybody familiar with such an event?

Ahh, here's the news article covering it:

Sounds like HELLA fun to me.

I plan on spending the day at the state fair in costume (zombie where's waldo). After that, since our party got cancelled, i'll be on a quest to find another party to crash.

I'm having trouble finding anything other than blood capsules for the inside of my mouth. I want that real zombie decayed look, anyone know if i can just swish some food coloring for a blackened mouth?

Or drink some Thunderbird. Probably give you a nice rotten smell too.

We had a nice, simple Halloween. Kids dressed as a witch (my four year old...green face paint (with pink hearts no less) brings out the green in her eyes) and a harlequin clown (the two year old). They went with my wife, a few friends and associated parents until the two year old pooped out. Then wife + 2 year old came home and I went the rest of the way with the small herd. Great fun.

Since our neighborhood is no longer haven to mobs of children like it was in my childhood, we took Thom to the mall, again. A local radio station had a stage up playing oldies so Thom went up there and did The Twist.

I also carved him a pumpkin on Thursday. Wow wow!
