So what's on the table for you guys to celebrate the most awesomest holiday evar??? Are you dressing up? Hitting any parties? Scaring kids off your lawn? Whatchoo got?

I volunteer for a site down here and have been working my *** off promoting and preparing for our annual Trunk or Treat event later today. We have over 200 families attending (yay!) The kids picked out their costumes and Ashe is going to be Batman. He is at that age still where parental units dressing up is the coolest thing ever, and begged me for over a week to be his sidekick Robin. So I'll be in a female Robin costume today (I thought I would look silly but trying on the costume I'm actually pretty happy with the look). I'll try and post some pics later.

Halloween itself we're going to check out our new neighborhood and snag as much candy as possible. Smiley: grin

Is "Trunk or Treat" where you stuff people in your trunk if they don't have any candy for you? Smiley: grin

We'll be staying home and handing out candy. We're boring like that.

A co-worker of mine told me about her costume. She's going as a ballerina with hairy legs. She said she's sick of all of the "oh, it's Halloween, I'll go as a <fill in the blank> ****!" women's costumes, so every year she tries to mock that a little.

She has furry fabric that she's using for the leg part, it's not just going to be her hairy legs, for the record. She said they had the material because she and her husband were going to go as Teen Wolf and Boof, but changed their minds.

Not much goes on in our neighborhood these days, so we take Thom to the mall.

Your friend sounds like someone I could easily be friends with. I like her sense of humor already!

Alton Brown said in an insert in today's newspaper that we need to be sure to scare the living bejeezus out of kids this holiday. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do, but now I have to do something.

We have this little skeleton. cheap little thing, sort of a plastic covered Styrofoam with hinges at the joints. It has a piece of twine around it's neck, it was there when we got it. There's a nail on the eave of our front porch. So every year, I hang the skeleton by the nail, for lack of anything else to do with him.

And every year, my husband asks me if I think that'll be offensive to any black people. My response has always been, "It's on our front porch, not theirs. How is that offensive?"

I'm shutting the lights off and hiding in the basement.

Our office is doing "Under the Sea" Theme. Not sure if I'm up to participating or not. It would be a good excuse to work less though.

A coworker throws a big party every year - band, prizes, the works.

Even now I have old clothes out in the rain getting properly nasty for my zombie costume. My friend is going to drag me in in a body bag. The proper entrance is everything.

I love Halloween, but sadly all my friends suck and don't want to have any fun with it. Since you can't really celebrate it properly by yourself I'll probably end up spending Halloween in New Vegas.

Uh, well, I don't really see the logic behind your defence, but I wouldn't say there's anything inherently offensieve about hanging.

Well, the whole lynch mob hanging thing is seen as racist. I always thought that if you were trying to scare or offend someone with that, you'd either publicly display it with a sign indicating what you're getting at, or you'd go and hang something vaguely body-shaped in their yard or on their porch.

Just try to avoid dressing the skeleton as either Amos or Andy and you should be fine.

Maybe crucify it instead to be absolutely sure not to offend.

You should put a David Carradine mask on the skeleton, that should get rid of the racist angle.

Too soon?

No parties here, just taking Noah to the "hot spot" for trick or treating here in town. There's a neighborhood where people still go door-to-door in droves. It's a lot of fun, it's like it was back when I was a kid. Also, one of the houses does a nice haunted house that you can tour, complete with folks dressed up and jumping out at you.

Not sure what I'm going to do. I want to go to Six Flags: Great America for Fright Fest but I think it will be too busy to even bother. Otherwise I think my fiancee and I are going to see "Something Wicked This Way Comes" at a local theatre.

I'm debating whether or not I am going to fulfill the gay stereotype by dressing as slutty as women traditionally do.

Regardless, it is going to be party after party with the new boy :D

A few of my cousins are throwing costume parties. Annual traditions. I'm stumped for ideas. I want to do something with Ray but he doesn't feel like dressing up. Which you have to for these parties. So I need to find something comfortable for him. Any ideas?
