The AP wrote:
SAN DIEGO—A federal judge issued a world-wide injunction Tuesday stopping enforcement of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy, ending the U.S. military's 17-year-old ban on openly gay troops.

U.S. District Court Judge Virginia Phillips's landmark ruling was widely cheered by gay-rights organizations that credited her with getting accomplished what President Barack Obama and Washington politics could not.

U.S. Department of Justice attorneys have 60 days to appeal. Legal experts said they are under no legal obligation to do so and could let Judge Phillips's ruling stand.

The article goes on to say that the Justice Dept. may appeal since Obama wanted to end DADT through Congress, not the courts.

Either way, huzzah for teh gays!

In before any comments containing the phrases "activist judge" or "legislating from the bench."

My understanding is that the administration (whoever it may be) typically appeals in these cases simply due to a desire to preserve executive powers. The executive branch signed the legislation and it should be theirs to reverse if they wanted it reversed. Note that the "legislation" in question is largely irrelevant.

I have this "More than likely bisexual female" in my class, but I don't think she will come out, because she's married.

Darn the military and their rules preventing people from having their own personal lives. So, I guess the next thing is getting rid of the rule on adultery? Oh, wait, it's not popular enough...darn....

I gave up on the US people during the last presidential elections when people on national television openly admitted to voting on physical traits as opposed to actual politics....
Are you just determined to remain an ignorant knuckle-dragger for the rest of your life? Grow up.

Edit: Also, What Joph said.

Judging by your posts, you're not really 'alive' now.

I wasn't alive in 1960. I know people have probably been doing that sense the beginning of time, but I'm talking about my personal experience.

WTFRU talking about Willis?
So you've only been alive for this election? How are you in the military?

And as for the second part - I'm not going into the same stupid **** from the DADT thread over again. The "Grow up." stands.
#16Almalieque, Posted: Oct 12 2010 at 6:16 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The more and more you try to defend yourself, the dumber you sound. What does you being alive have anything to do with being aware of politics? I was more concerned about grade school, college and my job than politics before the 2004 election. I was completely oblivious of politics in 2000 and first became interested in 2004. That's when I decided to be more involved and aware in the process...... which leads me into the 2008 elections. I know there are other elections besides the presidential general election, but given that I'm never living in the same place for more than 3 years, it's really not practical for me.

Does this shock anyone? Probably not, you liberals don't care how you get your agenda enacted so long as it's done.

This is why I equate liberals to ***** and commies. The ***** and commies didn't care for the will of the people either.

p.s. The scotus will overturn this ruling, like they do with most radical rulings out of Ca.

Actually you should give your thanks to the Log Cabin Republicans, but don't let that rain on your parade!

Oh, so your "grow up" part is referencing that you think it's cool to cheat on your spouse?... I thought that, I just wanted you to clarify that before I made any assumptions.
You have the post length of gbaji and the intellect of varus... which is why you're trying to start the same argument you started in previous threads. Either that or you're a complete dunce and don't realize you're talking in circles. I made a joke about your statement. Calm down, Bruno.

Talking in circles? Trying to start the same argument? That's definitely a cop out, but whatever makes you feel better.

I do like how everyone who agrees with me or Gbaji are all grouped together as "Idiots". I wonder how many more people will it take before you all realize that there are different groups of opinions and you all just so happen to be on the "opposing" side of opinions. Then again, I guess it's much easier just to call someone stupid. That way you don't have to worry about actually presenting an argument and getting caught up in "semantics"?

I know that you didn't specifically label Gbaji as an idiot, but others have
So by saying they might as well get rid of the adultery rule, you weren't referring to homosexuality as a "personal" or "behavioral" trait? Gbaji is not an idiot by any means, for the record.

I wouldn't call Gbaji an idiot. Slightly deranged, disassociated with reality, possibly narcissistic, certainly a sociopath, but not an idiot.
