Is it supposed to be for like up and coming or not so well known MMO's or all? It seems you have a pretty good staff for keeping up with the current mmo's you guys support like EQ, LotR, WoW, FF.

So would the writer need to write stories about all of those or what?

Would systematically deleting every post Vlor has ever written be considered grounds for dismissal?
#29REDACTED, Posted: Oct 07 2010 at 5:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Same to you! I don't wast my time checking spelling unless its for something like applying for a job or writing articles.

I'd love the position. Will I get it? Doubt it. Give Darryl my name as a recommendation, Kao! Also, Tailmon can DIAF. then again, most people can die in a fire, so that doesn't make him unique.

Is this that "sarcasm" thing I've heard so much about?

Actually no. Dispite what most people see and assume. I ran a large department at a large corporation and had to deal with VP's directors, ect.. That also included developing processes and proceedures. I also audited processes and proceedures of other areas. I was also ISO 90002 trained. Was a first responder. (Low level paramedic) I also mod one of the worlds largest forums.

Key sections underlined above. I would have underlined fragment sentences as well, but that would've been almost the whole post.

Have you ever seen any posts from the esteemed admin who started this thread?

Well, that's not a requirement to be an admin, just a Zam reporter.

Yes, but you write (type) at a level that would make my two year old laugh mockingly.

I'd quite frankly be amazed if you could finish the Twilight series, so this doesn't say much.

When conducting interviews and the like-- does this require catching a flight to California to meet up with the co-designer of x game for a Q&A session? How does one keep "up to date" on MMO news without simply reading it elsewhere on the internet?

It's all about networking. In this case, both literal senses. The best MMO news reporters go and get the story, but since MMO's are all online, that going and getting involves making (and keeping) contacts with the various community managers for MMO's, the developers, etc. Sometimes some of our people get to travel to events. They never let me travel anywhere, so I wouldn't know about that aspect. I'd assume at the start the more senior staff would probably get the jucier travel assignments, if any.

Telephone conferences, sitting in on game developer chats, networking through your co workers contacts in return for sharing your own, etc. We have pretty good networks in place already. A succeessful candidate might be the one who can bring aspects that we don't have to the game...

One of the interesting job perks being all the ... entertaining ... things you can do to the accounts of people who persist in pointing out admin spelling errors long after said admin has already admitted that he sucks at all things spelling.

Also when I rule the world people will be forced to conform to my spelling whims. All others will be consumed by mutant were-slugs. Slowly.

Well yeah, that last bit IS kind of a given I suppose.

Blizzard has offices and more a mere 30 miles from me. I could go and meet with them if needed. Maybe someday spelling will be something I care about when posting on a forum. If the forum really is going to want that then a spell check option would be nice.

You want a leg up on the competition? Here's the secret:

Add to the wiki somewhere. They do look at that content, how much of it there is, when you started (did you start just as soon as the job was posted, or have you been for a while), what your content looks like, can you write cleanly and concicely. Your wiki stats are recorded just like your post stats. and that is one of the primary things that they look at for candidates. For this position, posting knowledgably on the wiki for multiple games would probably be a plus.

I know several people who have been hired here due to their wiki contributions.

Wikification was, in my lowly opinion as a consumer, the worst thing that ever happened to this site's content. Well, that and the fact that no good MMO's have come out in what, six years?
