Hells AngelsFollow

So after visiting the beach this weekend (hotter then heck here now), we drive up to the usual seaside restaurant. Great food, giant outdoor eating area, the usual young kids (say, 2-4 years old, don't know which was the actual b-day boy/girl) party in progress next to the giant sandbox. But to get there, right up front, are about 50 Hells Angles.

See recently unveiled Life photos:

Well, comparing the modern version from those of the Life photos, these guys had less hair, were about the same age on average, and their bikes were larger (and immaculate which might be the same in the photos, but hard to tell).

I walked by them about 7 times (fetch kid gear from car, get food, take kid to bathroom, etc) and one time I felt about a dozen pairs of eyes following me. I was carrying a pizza. I guess they were hungry?

The place is midway between Ventura and Santa Barbara. Great place to bring kids. From the 3-4 couples I spoke with there, between us all we must have visited about 50+ times and this is the only time we'd seen such an immense group of bikers there.

We got hells Angels here in NZ too. They are outclassed in the scumbag stakes by the Mongrel Mob tho.

While you might get away with walking past them with a pizza, you try passing them with a bucket of fried chicken under your arm and you might not be quite so lucky.

The good thing is that they're generally drifters, which means they're gone by now.

I've heard of an legendary Biker Gang here in Maine called Satan's Lobsters. I've never seen one. I think it's a myth.

When I was still in HS I waitressed the all-night shift at a Perkins Restaurant in MN. I would frequently wait on members of the Themadones. They seemed pretty bad-a$$, but I was a starry-eyed 17yo...so who knows. A quick google reveals they are still around.

For whatever reason, Oceanside (north of San Diego) gets a gathering every so often. Went with my parents one time and there had to have been around 70 or so. I overheard one of them telling his friend "yeah, only way to get it is with the bread bowl" as the restaurant that everyone was converging on is pretty well-known for its clam chowder.
