Ignoring the fact that isolated incidents do not represent a group of people on the whole, and the fact that you're a complete idiot with the intellect of a rock, it would appear that in this case, your example of a lack of class has backfired.

The audience is tightly packed, and a dude who is trying to listen to Sharrrrrrron doesn't want to take his eyes off the stage, so he refuses to stand up so they can get by. One of the ladies trying to leave accidentally kicks his wife's leg slightly (entirely possible in a crowded auditorium, especially the noseblood section), his wife freaks out, then he freaks out and starts throwing punches.
We're still a heck of a lot more civilized than last year's Iranian election debacle.

I can pretty clearly visualize what happened. Harry Reid's videotaped closing comments finished, and the Reid supporters didn't want to listen to Sharron Angle's bullsh*t, so they tried to leave. The audience is tightly packed, and a dude who is trying to listen to Sharrrrrrron doesn't want to take his eyes off the stage, so he refuses to stand up so they can get by.
