One way to explain the rise of the Tea Party, with apologies to Dr Suess, who actually may enjoy this blog post from his grave.

Now the Bush-body Sneetches

You owe me a new keyboard and monitor.

Seriously, though. That was a hoot.

That made me smile and I found myself reading it in the same voice that would do How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Awesome find. :D

Oh in before one of the trio hops over and questions the intellectual/sexual/financial standing of the creator of that epic poem.

What part of being disable don't you understand. If I could work I certainly wouldn't spend my days playing computer games and reading the NY Times. Even a job were I have to ask, Do you want Fries with That?" would be better then not being able to save money for a rainy day.

I think the worst thing about having to accept that one isn't able to work and receiving SSI, is not being allowed to have more then $2000 in liquid assets. Since I still have a small life insurance policy (burial) that my grandfather brought when I was 5, I have to watch my bank balance carefully, or be penalized for going over the limit.

Plus I spent years contributing to Society and still, do as a volunteer.

How many badly thought out laws have you been able to stop at the age of 16, or been President of your local PTA as well as being on school board committees, were your opinion made a difference in the lives of students in your town or city?

Two days after my state delegate, sent a copy of a law he was working to a school board committee I was on back in high school, the law went down in flames. It would have require that all books brought by Maryland school systems, be available for public viewing no less then 3 months and thus make it impossible for a teacher to order a book in less then 18 months, the Baltimore Evening Sun came out with an editorial against the law.

He should have known that my family was good friends to one of the Sun reporters. After also lying to my mother, his political career ended. You just don't mess with us Montgomery's.

That's okay, he's got another 150 years to figure it out.

That was genuinely amusing.

Perhaps Varus or Thief could make a rebuttal in rhyme,
but they're much too busy contributing to waste the time.

There are a lot of things that Thief doesn't understand. :l

I wouldn't bother wasting your time and energy on Thief. Trying to get him to understand anything logical is like trying to get a pet rock to fetch. Despite how much you talk, it just sits there and stares at you.

Although now that I think about it I wonder if a pet rock could talk, would it carry on a better conversation than what Theif or Varus has come up with.

Neither of these people are you.

You're disabled, why didn't you bring yourself up?

Wow Thief, you don't remember that I'm one of the older members of the Asylum at 51. My girls are grown and I haven't volunteered in city schools since 2000. These days I limit my volunteer time to just 2 events a year were I can sit most of the time and have other's gopher for me.

Between working from the age of 13 until I had my first kid, having a full time job was or part time while at school was part of who I was, since back then my only handicap was invisible.

I thin did the stay at home job until my youngest was in school, with serving on a non-profit board that supported neighborhood schools with small grants.

The school my youngest was zone for, was trying to get it's PTA reform and I was able to use the skills I learn as member of student government to help write the by-laws. From the moment I dropped her off in class to the end of the school day I was constantly helping in any classroom that needed it. I even took a job working in the cafeteria one year, and earn a little pocket money for my family.

Once the parents and teacher voted on the new by-laws, they then ask me to run as the PTA president and I won with only token opposition from a few teachers that sucked up to the Principle. I spent a year trying to get North Ave to something about problems in the school cause by the Principles need for control and the culture of failure her attitude had done to make the male students become the discipline problems she expected them to.

The last straw was when the son of one of the teachers started to hit my daughter every day were their teacher couldn't see him. When I went to the Principle expecting her to do something, she refused to punish the boy. I wasn't going to stand for it, so she called the principle of the best public school in the city and ask if she would let my daughter transfer one week into the school year.

My daughter got a far better education and by May, 5 of the boys in her class had been expelled from school. I had stepped down as PTA president as the stress was affecting my health along with problems in my marriage.

in 3 years my marriage was over and I started to look for work that would lead me into my chosen career. Finding work after 14 years as a stay at home mom and needing to go back to school to finally get my degree, while going through a divorce took a lot of work, while also being a single mother. I got a job, but after 10 months the stress at home, divorce and job became too much stress for my body to handle. Next thing I knew I was in constant pain and couldn't walk the mile to the bus stop each morning to stay in shape. I had a choice of volunteerly leaving my job for my health or getting fired for missing too many days. I decided to focus on trying to find out what was causing the pain and hoping that I would get better soon and find another job.

As it became clear that I couldn't hold down a full time job, and had become disable with Fibromyalgia and chronic depression, reality hit and the doctors and therapist help me cope and get on SSI. While many people with Fibro can still work, there are also many of us who can't find a job that will accommodate our needs. If I had a good career instead of taking care of my special needs children who inherited my invisible handicap, I might of been lucky to have a job that was supportive and with good health care coverage like my sister. Her health is actually worst in many ways then mine, but she choose to have a professional career over staying home with her sons. Then she went into design and architecture, while I went for fine arts in drawing.

Only thing I wish I had done differently was get a degree in Art Education and not marry an abusive person. I wouldn't give up being a mother and now am very happy to be a grand mother too.

Thats all very well and good Elne, but I think your total lifetime contributions to ThiefX' beloved military/industrial complex is more what he is interested in.

All that arty-farty helping out on a grass roots community level has little or nothing to do with contributing to errr.....society.
