I'd wager that 10 times more liberals make a big deal about what their comedians say than conservatives even take notice. This thread alone is good evidence of that. You're all going gaga about how great and brilliant this is, and the conservatives are kinda like "lol whut?".

The primary reaction from the right to these guys isn't about what they say themselves, but the fact that so many liberals repeat what they say as though it's brilliant political commentary.

Judging from clips of The Daily Show, 90% of liberal commentary appears to be showing clips from FOX and making funny faces after them. Not much to repeat there.

So I didn't spend a thread explaining to forum posters here that the analogy of "tubes" used to describe how data travels through the internet was actually fairly accurate, only to be met with post after post of "haha! And had that been in the context of "here's a funny joke", that would be fine. But it wasn't. Said Stewart reference was specifically brought up to argue against a specific position on net neutrality.

It's not that rare for jokes used on TDS or "Real Time" to show up in arguments in this forum. Even more broadly, those jokes end out being repeated in changed form on blogs, which then get repeated as serious positions by others down the line. It's laughable, I suppose, but a whole lot of people do seem to form their political positions based on those jokes.

That's... that's not even what we're talking about.

Which just goes to show you what a sad state the media is in, in general (Including FOX news), that the jokes on TDS & Colbert are trusted about as much as the news is in general. Sure, TDS has a liberal bias, but it's really more of a show lampooning the media in general as opposed to just conservatives. Colbert is different, he's a Neo-con caricature, but thats what makes him funny on both sides of the isle.

And fuck both sides if they can't take the joke.

Stewart often skewers the Obama administration for not doing things, and for not living up to promises. Of course the Fox news pundits basically write the jokes, so it's a really really easy target. When you contradict yourself from show to show...

Trying to see or move while in the crowds was insanity itself. Parking at Greenbelt Metro we found a very long line for all the people who didn't have fare cards. Thankfully we had enough on cards to get us down to Chinatown stop and I didn't have to walk to 4th st. where there was section for handicap persons. Problem with getting in the area is they only allowed one person to come with you and we had to talk them into at least letting 5 year old stay with us.

There we got divided until after the rally, when we made several tries to reach my daughter's BF. AT&T was overwhelmed, while T-Mobile seem to have no problem with network. We met up at National Natural History Museum, saw some of it before it closed and then had t o hunt for a restaurant without a long line or wait for table. Almost had a seat in one restaurant only to find they ran out of water to wash dishes. Finally found a Sushi place in the Galleria that we will love to go back without kids.

As Joph said, Stewart's monologue at the end was great. Unlike most rallies we ween this year, the crowd was a mix of every color under the sun and then some as one guy had a Green suit on and I didn't get to see his face until some time later as we look for place to eat.

Mythbusters did a few experiments with the largest sample size they ever had. They time us doing the wave and had every one jump to see if we could get earth to move.

Now my legs feel like jello and I need some sleep.
