Rally To Restore SanityFollow

#1 Sep 16 2010 at 10:04 PM Rating: Excellent
Officially announced tonight:

http://www.rallytorestoresanity.com/

An important counterpoint to the growing irrational fear gripping the country? The man sticking it to the man? Another tongue in cheek attack on Fox News?

Thoughts?

The current lack of sanity is netting me a little over five grand a month, not counting my company's ill thought out "U IS PATRIOT WE PAY U WHILE U KILL PEPLE" policy, so I'm a little bias against restoring sanity at the moment.

I'd rather rally To Keep Fear Alive.

I would have prefered the Rally to Restore Truthiness, but at the same time realize that Colbert simply doesn't break character. Ever. Which is one of the reasons he's so funny.

I might make the trip though, if only to get a "I Disagree With You But I’m Pretty Sure You’re Not Hitler" sign.

A chance to drive up ratings with a media stunt? Just like Glenn Beck & Fox!

Huh. I think the proposed date - of no significance whatsoever - is a bit fishy.

There's also a more serious One America march coming up on October 2nd, so we have an actual political march sandwiched in between three entertainers pretending to hold political marches.

TDS will be filmed in DC all week the end of October, and rumor has it that Stewart nabbed Obama for the show.

While that is almost certainly true. There are a lot of other messages they could be trying to carry the stunt with. Some of them probably more entertaining and pandering to their base.

So why focus on prevelance of propaganda and fear mongering?

Yes, South Carolina, Canada. We're so good at taking over your country, you don't even know it's happening. Makes it easier to send our illegally earned wages back home.

I don't even understand what this is supposed to mean... some poor attempt at cross-thread shenanigans? Colbert was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in South Carolina.

Varus thinks the majority of Canadians work illegally in US and send their ill gotten wages back home to Canada.

I was thinking of the idea that "most Canadians send their pay back to Canada." :-P I forgot how it tied into Colbert.

It would be vastly more funny if using comedians as spokespeople wasn't actually the best tool the left has to respond to political issues going on in the world around them.

Not half as funny as the giant panty-knot conservatives get over a couple comedians. If we stopped using them, we wouldn't get to see conservatives go absolutely insane over it so often!
