I just talk to them a bit to get their hopes up up, then when they ask me if I fell for it I tell them that their entire premise is baseless invalidating any further arguments they can derive from said premise, and that I was just being polite by opening the door at all.

Obviously. Who else would have wrote it?

It depends entirely on who you ask. Smiley: wink

Definitely nothing in the New Testament. I'm not sure there's a single Christian who believes the New Testament was written by God. (If there are any... they're kind of stupid.)

The Old Testament... I'd think the more common belief is that it's "God spoke to these people, who wrote it down" instead.

On the other hand, the Koran supposedly was originally written by God and then dictated to Mohammed. Uh-huh. Riiiight.

I knew a JW in elementary school. He was a nice enough kid, always seemed slightly bummed out that he didn't get to celebrate Christmas or his birthday. His name was odd, though. His parents were named Joe (or perhaps John...) and Mary, so to name him they combined their names and called him "Jory." Maybe this is common, I dunno.

You are kidding. I hope. Mormons can get raped same as anyone can so of course we understand that concept.

Yes, it was a claim so deliberately absurd I assumed no one could possibly take it seriously.

Ummm... yea. That is not a JW thing. That is a "being a jerk" thing. We do have the occasional jerk among us, like anyone else. We are, in fact, encouraged to treat others as we would like to be treated (which is a common thing with all Christian religions, and several non-Christian ones as well, really).

why does it have to be associated with any religion?

Ask them to wait on the porch. Call the cops and when the cops arrive have them issue a criminal tresspass on them. Keep doing it if different ones show sooner or later they will mess up and end up in jail.

If you ask them to wait on the porch, you've invited them onto your property, dumbass.

No. He used humans to write His thoughts in their own words.

What a slacker!

Its not like humans didn't have enough to do in the 5th century, what with the plagues and famines and imminent danger of death at any moment from a veritable myriad of causes.

What, was he too busy smiting evildoers or something to get one of his 144,000 Christian members of the Heavenly Govt. to sort it out? At least that way, he could have signed it himself and it would have stopped all that incessant bickering thats been going on ever since.

I'm not sure that this 'God' fella is quite as infallible as you've been led to believe...

You're really not helping your case with that.

There was spare time available. They happened to spend it writing rather than playing video games.

Many municipalities have some kind of anti-solicition laws. The JW's will not knowingly break these laws.

Mostly though the folks that show up are polite and not really pushy. If you tell them you're not interested and then close the door. They go away.

That depends... are you "The Earth is 6,000 years old and everything was created at once then mostly destroyed during a giant global flood that created the Grand Canyon in a few seconds and left devil fossils to test your faith" religious, or a reasonable human being?

That's been my experience with all religions to date. But there's not a lot of hard core bible thumpers around here. Probably because we're all socialists and see the government as our God.

I've had but one JW/Mormon (not sure which) come knocking on my door. I opened up and my girlfriend's new pot bellied pig ran out the door to freedom. I said "Quick! Catch him!"

He made short work of rounding up the swine and returning him to me. I said "thanks man, you really saved my bacon there."

He gave me a sideways glance and I couldn't help myself. I smiled, licked my lips, and closed the door.

He never came back.
