Sigh. But it *doesn't* say that "God guided evolution".

Yes, it does. I stopped reading here since you fucked up at the very first sentence so I'm assuming the rest of your attempt to dig yourself out is equally retarded.

Quote where it says those exact words. If it's not there, then you aren't reading "exactly" what it says. Unless you've invented a new definition for the word "exactly"?

He did quote it. Multiple times.

The Vatican wrote:
An unguided evolutionary process – one that falls outside the bounds of divine providence – simply cannot exist because “the causality of God, Who is the first agent, extends to all being, not only as to constituent principles of species, but also as to the individualizing principles....It necessarily follows that all things, inasmuch as they participate in existence, must likewise be subject to divine providence”
(bolding Joph's, underlining mine.)

An unguided evolutionary process cannot exist. Have you invented a new definition for the word cannot?

It doesn't. It uses different words in a different order with the same meaning. I'm not sure why you think it's a victory to proclaim "It never says 'The cat was black'!" when it does say "The feline was the color of onyx".

Oh wait, yeah I do. Because you're clinging to whatever strands you can find. Well, it was a nice try.

While unions and historical considerations play a role, Catholics are also more socially liberal than other Christians and sometimes even more so than the general population.

Gbaji will now argue that a 15% margin is not significant.

You can't possibly believe that for a second.
How can you not?

You must know someone of a differing opinion about religion than you. Do you hunt them down for their beliefs?

I know quite a few. In fact most people don't seem to share my lack of belief in a higher power. However, I don't bug them, they don't bug me about it...well cept my sis sometimes still gets a bit preachy, but it rarely comes to blows anymore. Smiley: wink

BUT at the same time, I believe many of it has to do with the war of religion vs evolution and if it were explained how the two can coexist, then most people would accept that.

Technically, he did say war of, not war on. And that's where his argument will be based.

Yeah, and he's right. It's like saying the war of the US versus Iraq. He was calling the religion versus evolution debate a war.

I would like to re-frame the debate as creationism vs. evolution. It's already been pointed out that some religions can coexist with evolutionary theory.

I don't understand the all or nothing approach, personally. There are religious scientists, after all; statistically most scientists are probably religious to some degree.

I think it all goes back to the ability to tolerate ambiguity.

I don't think anything, because I am religious.

It's not "evolution versus religion." It's "evolution versus creation science/intelligent design." They keep trying to sneak an outdated, non-scientific "theory" into the science classroom. There is no debate, it's simply an ongoing battle to keep pseudoscience out.
