My baby starts Kindergarten on Thursday...I will post a photo then. I know other schools started already though (and then there's the crazy year round places) so get posting people.

Noah's in one of those crazy year round schools. And he already got suspended from the bus for fighting. I'm so proud. =\

Darn Nadenu, I was so not going to post my family drama in this thread and rain on Nexa's precious moment

Only my ex could spoil a grand daughters first day of school. I'm just praying my grand daughter didn't notice and things don't go from extreme to earthshaking over the next few days.

Thumbelyna, I'll post all the gory details, when my blood pressure goes back down.

Anthony started his first day at college yesterday. Steven and Charmaine start high school and junior high after Labor Day.

I feel way old and sentimental right now.

They still look the same.

My little brother started kindergarten last week, and my stepmom is a mess. It doesn't take a lot to make her wonk out though.

For a second I read that as how many kids were in each section. I was amazed.

I'm glad you posted this, because that's how I took it, too. Smiley: laugh

My four year old started preschool about a week ago. She seems to be having a blast. My two year old seems like she will be ready to roll next Fall. She has potty trained herself (with her parents cheering her on) and is working on writing her name. When we take them both into our older one's preschool, our two year old is the one most reluctant to leave.

But when the two year old starts I think both my wife and I will be in tears. I have promised the wifey lots of nooners while the kid-os are in school, but I don't think that helped.

At two and a half, Thom is stubbornly refusing to use the toilet or speak more than one intelligible word at a time. He's just doing it to **** off me and mommy.

Seems to work fine for me.

Edit: Just realized I forgot to actually comment on the picture itself. Adorable munchkin you've got there.

Oh good, then have some more!

Comforting poor old mom

Showing off the new backpack

Running for the bus without so much as a look back

*sigh*

Mia started year-round in July and is loving Kindergarten so far.

Don't rain on my "first day of school" parade, little brother.

My first child took a while to potty train. I think she was about 3.5 years old and our pediatrician was all over us about it. She took more interest in it a bit later and she's reliable now (at about 4.8 years) and has been for a while.

As for speaking, their brains are the most amazing things in the known universe and they are using, and growing, all of it all the time. It is encoding everything. The two families I know who had first children with speech delays employed some kind of speech therapy and both worked swimmingly (either a. the kids were going to outgrow it anyhow or b. the therapy was actually effective).

My kid's just over 3 and was about the same way at 2.5ish. Then one day, it was like a flick of a switch and he was potty trained. And he did it all on his own schedule, We would just remind him that using the toilet was the cool thing to do and that he should try to be a big boy.

As for talking, all I can say is all kids are different. Dont try to compare yours to others at this age. Some kids learn things in different orders from others. For example my kid knew his ABCs, the sounds they made, and numbers before his slightly older cousin, who could talk and talk and talk and talk nonstop.
