Premmies back baby!

I have the kneed to know:

You have a fresh piece of homemade bread covered with a bit of cream-churned salted or unsalted butter of your choice, or even wtfnobutter if you prefer. Margarine, Oleo, Non-dairy spreads or cheezwiz are highly discouraged as flammable materials are dangerous around here. Now you must add the jam/jelly/preserve:

NEW CHOICE ADDED!!

What would you put on your slice?
Sweet berry jams (strawberry, raspberry, etc...with chunks) :20 (50.0%)
Sweet Jellies (grape, apple, etc...no chunks just pure gel) :4 (10.0%)
Marmalades (orange, apricot, etc..chunks but no gel):5 (12.5%)
Tart preserves (plum, crab apple, with chunks - but non gelled):2 (5.0%)
Other - please explain:5 (12.5%)
Peanut Butter is NOT an option:4 (10.0%)
Chutneys (tangy, less sweet - peach, mango etc):0 (%)
Total:40

Cheese. Preferably old cheddar or a smoked Gouda.

Also I'd scrape off a bunch of the butter.

If for some reason you're crazy and don't like cheese, honey is awesome with butter on fresh bread.

This.

Butter or preserves, not both.

I don't understand this tbh, I've always thought they complemented each other. I don't eat preserves much mainly because I find them generally too sweet.

I understand if it's regular butter. But she did say sweet cream butter, so that wouldn't be as gross, to me.

Sweet cream butter sounds gross to me.

Butter is salty, not sweet. Just like gravy is brown, not white Smiley: mad

Whatever butter is your preference. I just made up sweet cream butter cuz it sounded tastier - I'll change it. It's the jams I'm interested in finding out about.

To me, adding butter to jam makes the whole combination taste fatty.

Ah, I understand. Yeah, salty butter and jam would be gross. I always get unsalted butter.

Do you like fruit chutneys? They're usually not as sweet, more spicy and/or tangy.

fatty? butter is the original awesomesauce - it's not fatty. If you put butter on bacon you will decrease the fat content.

Yes. Chutneys would be a good category and kind of what I was getting at with the tarts, but they're not tart - Peach and mango are coming to mind.

Wait, what? How does adding fat to fat decrease the fat?

It's a synergistic effect.

I am right now eating a freshly-baked croissant just out of the oven with just a smidgen of butter.

God, I love the bakery next door.

What kind of fruity spread thing would enhance your croissant experience?

Not really, if the bacon is hot enough it can use the butter as a fuel source to keep the sandwich warm.
