I would rather try to control the bedbugs, then have to throw out my books.

I have my grandmother's copies of "The Five Little Peppers and How They Grew" and the next 2 books in the series.

Then there are all our sign books by popular S/F, Fantasy and History writers.

Nope I'll get rid of all my bed frames and mattresses, but the books stay!

You CAN keep your books, but there's are some steps to ensure you've killed anything that could possibly be in them, month long process to be absolutely sure. We'd already read all of the books we had (I use an e-reader now, which I'm keeping in a plastic bag to ensure nothing hides in the SD card slot) so it wasn't that big of a deal to just toss them (we have enough to do without treating books).

And you only create stronger bugs if you don't succeed. I'm not trying to eradicate them, I'm GOING to eradicate them.

The books on my shelf are testaments to my intellectual superiority. If I threw them out, how would I make my guests feel uncomfortable?

Sit on your couch naked with them and start rubbing butter all over yourself?

That sentence makes no sense at all to me.

Why not? I don't reread books. There's no point, I already know what's in them. So I threw them out instead of working to keep them.

Yeah, it's kinda like when you get that letter from the school saying someone in the class has head lice. Whether your kid brought them home or not you're going to be scratching your head for a week.

If you don't re-read books, why waste the money buying them? There are these places, maybe you don't know about them, where you can borrow books for a period of time for free (or a small nominal fee) and just give them back when you're done.

And occasionally I use those places, but they don't always have the newest books, and for some of the better authors I like to support their writing.

You MONSTER!

No seriously, I think you're a horrible person for throwing out innocent books like that.
And who doesn't reread their books? The idea alone is mind boggling, every book I have has been read multiple times and I'll continue to read them until they fall apart.

I guess you don't ever watch a movie more than once then? No TV reruns, right??

My father, for one.

I used to be able to read books for the first time by opening up at random pages and piecing it together, but that was like twenty years ago. Now I just start in the middle of books I've read a couple dozen times before.

I don't watch much TV to begin with, I definitely don't watch reruns. I'll rewatch a movie that comes on if I can't remember much about it (action movies from when I was younger for example), but even then I tend to lose interest as soon as I start remembering what happens.
