I don't understand the dilemma.

Because on the one hand you are excusing the public for supporting the release on compassionate grounds because that the doctor (an expert) told them he only had 3 months to live. And on the other hand, you are excusing the doctor because he did say that the guy might live longer. You seem to want to simultaneously argue that the public wasn't mislead about his chances of living longer *and* that the public responded reasonably given the circumstances they were presented to (which ironically includes the false perception that he only had 3 months to live).

My point is that maybe next time we don't do this for precisely the reason that the doctor might be wrong, or the diagnosis might be misreported to the public?
The public wasn't mislead. You just don't understand what they're saying, apparently.

I don't, I oppose some wars.

I don't, I only support it when the guy is probably not guilty of what he was accused of.

Really? So unless you make a thread about every single abuse of power from government, then you don't really care about any abuse of power from government? Unless you care about every single crime committed in the world, you don't really care about crime? Unless you highlight every single terrorism incident around the world, you don't really care about terrorism incidents?

**** gbaji, you're gonna have to make **** loads of threads if you want to be able to comment on anything...

People who have to lie about their positions in order to gain support for them? Yeah. I think so. You'd think that a sane person might just re-assess their position first. I also always wonder how someone doing that feels when they "win". See. Cause if I oppose something and I convince other people that the thing I oppose is bad, so they stop doing it, that's a real win. But if I oppose something, but instead of convincing people that it's bad, I instead convince them that we shouldn't do it for some completely unrelated reason, what have I done? Nothing. I've just convinced people that the unrelated reason is important, but not the thing I really care about.

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about here, or how that relates to anything in the thread, sorry.

Why not? The US does. Oh right, we just went over the rules. One set for you guys, another for everyone else.
