Yes, we currently have a crappy basketball team. We also have the best baseball team in the known universe.

The Rangers? Huh. How many World Series have the Rangers won? For that matter, how many playoffs have they won?

I'll give you a hint: the total is the same number of credible arguments you've made on this site.

Hell, I just checked the standings and the Rangers are only a game better than *Boston*. The third-place team in the AL East. I can't imagine any conceivable standard that the Rangers are a better team than the Yankees. Except maybe that they are worse than the Yankees are good?

Ah, yes, another historically pathetic ball club. Admittedly I don't follow the NL very closely but I was surprised to see them at the top of the league.

Yup. But we will not speak of, nor even think about possible outcomes for fear of jinxage.

I'm not going to disagree that the Appalachian mountains are beautiful. I was trying to explain to someone from CA what the difference is. The vistas in California are amazing, but to me, the vistas in the Appalachians are equally amazing for different reasons.

Out west, the mountains are bigger. The hills are steeper, and more defined. Everything is more raw. But back east, the valleys are deeper and wider. So when you stand on top of a mountain, you don't see another mountain immediately across the gap. You see a winding terrace of blue tinted hills stretching hundreds of miles away. It's an unforgettable vista, and it's why I catch my breath whenever I drive into Dahlonega and crest the hill there.

Not to defend Virus's racist comments about "low minority populations" being a reason to live in TN, but he does have a point about how pretty the mountains are around here.

This is why I always state that upstate New York has some of the best scenery in the world. I live somewhere in the vicinity of this.

Every once in awhile, if I find myself on the west side of I5 and need to get home during rush hour, I'll avoid getting on the freeway and just head north along the Torry Pines reserve. It's not a great picture, but this shows how the road comes down from one side of a hill from La Jolla (UCSD area), runs about a half mile between the beach and the wetlands, then turns back in (over the coaster tracks) and up another hill into the Del Mar area. It's one lane each way at the bottom, so you still get traffic, but in the afternoon, you get this view. Not a bad spot to be stuck in traffic...

Not that I'm defending Varus in any way, but I remember that case. It happened over 3 years ago. If there isn't anything more recent, then his claim of a lower crime rate, is accurate.

To me, 3 years is still fairly recent. And people around here still talk about it. They only recently finished the trials for the people involved.
