Well, more like almost $5000.

Long story short, husband and I sold two junk cars for $750 cash and then we got a check from our mortgage company saying that there was a huge overage in our escrow account. Before I deposit that check, though, I'm confirming with our mortgage company that the overage actually existed and we're not going to be in a shortage problem when real property taxes and insurance come due.

But if all of a sudden you find yourself with a windfall of unexpected funds, what would you do?

I recently received $3000 from one source and $4000 from another. Its sitting in the bank to cover upcoming moving expenses. Dull, but necessary.

Since I'm a keeping up with the Jones' type guy, probably pay down some bills. Or spend it on upgrades to the house. I wouldn't blow it on random crap though, because I could always pay down some bills and rack them back up by blowing it on random crap.

I told Ray that we need to make a wishlist of what we want to do. I've realized that we're horribly pathetically responsible adults.

We have new toilet seats on our list. Smiley: lol

We just came back from the store and bought a movie to watch and a game to play. That's about our indulgences.

Oh and I ordered sushi.

Buy the $750 controller module for the CNC mill I am building, then use the rest for a vacation or maybe start the back deck project. or jumpstart the schedule for installing chunks of the never to be sufficiently damned PVC fence crap that is mandatory and bloody expensive.

That or blow it all on an EVGA SR-2 motherboard, two hexacore Xeon processors, another 12GB ram, and 3 Geforce 480 GTX cards!

I'd pay off the remainder of my credit card and blow the rest on strippers. I don't keep much debt, nor do I keep much money, outside of my 401k and IRA.

We'd probably chuck it straight into our sons account. He's gonna need it so that he can support us in our dotage.

I'd remember that money is fungible and not use it as an excuse to waste $5,000 on something I wouldn't have spent it on otherwise.

Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

Well, the movie we bought sucked, but it was a movie that Ray really wanted to watch. After 20 minutes, I had to go to sleep to avoid the rest of that movie.

We had to run some errands and bought a couple of books, some workout stuff and had some junk hauled.

I call our mortgage company tomorrow to see what the accounting was for the payment for an overage in our escrow account that I'm almost positive is a mistake on their part.

Put the money in the bank for a rainy day. Be very wary of the suprise you paid to much return money. It always seems that the next time they goofed and want it back. At least use it to pay off some of your house payments.

I've been on hold with the mortgage company for the last 20 minutes about this. They're telling me that I had over $6,000 in my escrow account, hence the refund of $4,055.51. We're current on all bills and paid ahead on some of them.

So, now I'm looking over our wishlist and trying to figure out what we're going to do with this unexpected windfall.

I think maybe Ray had expectations that were far too high. I expected crap and ended up enjoying it as a result. You knew there were cheesy moment sin from the trailers.
