The Original 13th AmendmentFollow

#1 Jul 29 2010 at 3:21 PM Rating: Decent
So the Iowan GOP is going effin crazy here with these far out plans like lasers on the moon, reverting back to not eating the flesh of hoved animals and stripping its population of their citizenship.

The OG 13th Amendment reads as thus:
Quote:
"If any citizen of the United States shall accept, claim, receive or retain any title of nobility or honour, or shall, without the consent of Congress accept and retain any present, pension, office or emolument of any kind whatever, from any emperor, king, prince or foreign power, such person shall cease to be a citizen of the United States and shall be incapable of holding any office of trust or profit under them, or either of them."

Naturally, Iowa GOP spokesperson Danielle Plogmann intends this platform plank as "a statement about the delegates' opinion about Mr. Obama receiving the prize."

It's better than a billboard I suppose.

I'd really honestly love to see someone try to have Obama's citizenship stripped based on him receiving the Nobel Prize.

That was my first thought.

Let the GOP keep proving itself stupid. Seems pretty harmless to me at this point.

***** please. Iowa has been a bastion of civil rights back to our founding and are far more progressive than you'll ever hope to be. We know more about politics, foreign policy and the general state of the nation than anyone else polled.

I'm not saying we don't have our problems but maybe you should put some **** into perspective.

And the state party platform has what bearing on this exactly? Nobody really pays attention to national party platforms much anymore Joph, much less state platforms. It's irrelevant.

Kaelesh, you may be happy to know that two nights ago I helped cater/cocktail at a Culver fundraiser. Culver wasn't there (he was out checking the broken dams up north), but I felt like I made a significant political contribution: pushing drinks to get the checkbooks loose. Yup.

You know, I would normally but I loath Culver with all my might. Ok, it's his wife actually that I want to stab in the face after the whole smoking fiasco but still.

I'll take Culver over any of these crazy Iowan Repubs.
