Well, you have to consider that he's living in Britain and still saying he's comparatively a bit gay. Think something out of a Berlin night club, really.

I think Demea is right, he's French, it's in his blood to drink wine.
Edit: whether that also means that he's gay or not is not something I have an opinion about or care to think about.

And personally I prefer a beer over wine, but who knows maybe one day I'll learn to appreciate wine.

Clearly, I've been doing it wrong.
I've recently rediscoverd Chardonnay. I never really like chardonnay, but then I never really spent more than ten bucks on a bottle.

A nicely aged Chardonnay is quite pleasurable.

I've decided Mead is over-rated. I love honey. I love wine. I really wanted to love mead, but I just haven't found one that is near as tasty as a semi-decent bottle of grape wine. I made some mead and it's ok and I'll drink it, but I'll be dreaming of Bordeaux.

Youshutup was Scottish. He was rather well-mannered for an internet kid, but seemed a bit pampered by life.

I made my own mead once. It was all right. I think most of it got mixed with 7-up at a party, which was actually surprisingly good.

Still, I wanna try this coconut mead.

At the wine store last week there was a bottle of Chocolate Wine. I was tempted to try it but I think it's better to let chocolate be chocolate and wine be wine.

I'm not sure I know how European countries score on a scale of gayness. Are the French more gays than the English? Berliners more than Parisians? Is there gayer than an Italian?

And obviously, when I said "gay" in the previous post, I didn't mean gay-gay. Just you know drinking-rose-gay. In other words, French. Demea pretty much got it right.

Someday we can expect YSU to one more grace these boards. I imagine him yelling at his kids to shut up, as he rants about how worthless his degree was.

I love a good wine, but don't risk much more then a sip normally since it doesn't like me.

American beers also often contain ingredients that has made me very ill in the pass. If it isn't micro brewed or imported, I don't touch it. My first beer was most likely Miller from a pony keg, which us kids felt was self served in whatever galss we could reach. My first legal beer was Löwenbräu, back when you could buy it imported.

Being allergic to Sulfite's, and maybe some other preservatives, makes even vinegar risky for me. I can no longer enjoy Pizzeria Uno's house salad dressing. It's the only reason I would go to there, since they went and expanded outside of the original 2 restaurants in Chicago. Growing up we always started our dinner there with the house salad. Then back then you could look out the window of Uno and see the tomatoes they grew.

Darn now I wish I could have some pizza and a nice glass of red wine.

The locals in Newscastle call it "Nookie Broown". Mostly because they have funny accents.

By the not-so-locals it's often referred to as "Newky Brown", because phonetically that's a closer approximation of the American pronunciation of Newcastle. Nookie Brown is something else entirely and I recently heard she retired.

In Newcastle-upon-Tyne, home of Newcastle Brown Ale, it's always referred to as 'The Dog', as in "Two pints of Stella, a glass of rose for my ghey french friend, and The Dog for me".

As for YSU, he's doing OK. He moved to London from Edinburgh to study, and stayed down south. Graduated and now working for a crust.

I think that is my issue. Call me simple-minded or afraid of the unknown or whatever, but I feel silly telling myself "drink this, it will taste good eventually" rather than "drink this, it tastes good."

There are a lot of things that are an acquired taste that are thoroughly worth acquiring a taste for. But in this case, you're probably just drinking bad beer.

I agree with the above statements.

While I can't say I'm a connoisseur, I recommend Leffe double if you can get it.
The best beer of those I have tried so far (which, I admit, isn't that much).

There is a wee bit to get used to, nothing along the lines of drink till enjoy though. Hops are formidable. They can be a soft subtle butterfly amongst nuisances of biscuity yeast, velvet sweet malts and fruit undertones. Or they can come right out, **** your tongue raw and offer not even a tug job in return. Hops tend to be the first thing that turns folks away but they never give it a chance. If you taste a bitter hop for the first time its natural to be turned away. Same does not go for the second or third. It took me maybe 3 Barleywines to decide I <3 Hops. I want every and anything to do with them. I still come across IPAs and DIPAs and Barleywines, etc that suck at hops so maybe you have stumbled across these wild bastards as well. I'd love to say experiment but it can cost some scratch and is something you at least have to go into with a positive attitude.

I probably did not address any issue of yours, I just like looking at myself type about beer. If I did though, well you're welcome.

If I ever drink a beer, it's because I was in a New Jersey pub and Sora orders me one. I have had 2 sips of beer in my entire life and have never wanted to try one.
