Whatever happened to him? I know he used to post here.

I remember I tried to get to scholar so I could rate him up because he was getting karma camped, or something silly like that. There may have been a reason someone was camping him, but I thought he was funny.

The first beer I tried was some very hoppy homemade beer. I'd probably enjoy it now, but back then It was just super bitter.

The first beer I remember was a Newcastle. My father had given me sips of other beers before, but that's the first one that stands out in my memory.

Do you (not anyone in particular) ever think that beer is one of those things that serves no real purpose, but is too ingrained in our society to challenge its significance/existence? It doesn't get you drunk very fast and it tastes like pisswater.

You're not drinking beer by the sounds of it.

Maybe. It looked legitimate at the time, factory sealed and everything.

You got pisswater labeled as beer. That's the mistake you've been making.

Newcastle Brown Ale? I used to drink gallons of the stuff when I was studying in Durham. Delicious...

Having said that, I'd take over wine over beer any day. And Youshutup was Scottish, maybe that's why he got karma-camped. Well, that's the reason I was karma-camping him anyway...

Yes, Newcastle Brown Ale. I liked it far more than regular beer as a kid. Then I hit my teens and could drink just about any ****, so long as I drank enough of it to get drunk. Then I hit my 20's and rediscovered taste buds.

Beer vs wine depends on my mood. I can always take a glass of wine, but somedays a beer just kicks it's ***.

The locals in Newscastle call it "Nookie Broown". Mostly because they have funny accents.

And yeah, some days a beer really hits the spot, but... even on a sunny day, I'd take a glass of rosé over a beer. I'm a bit gay like that.

With the exception of cheesy or greasy foods (pizza, wings), I generally prefer wine with food, and beer otherwise. I have had some excellent pairings of beer and food though when I put some thought into it.

A good craft beer can be enjoyed almost as well as a fine wine. Go to a micro-brewery and order a sampler of their suds - you'll get a remarkable range of flavors and notes across the palate.

Speaking of which, we're going to Five Seasons Brewery for our first anniversary :) Deliciousness awaits.

The following is an inference drawn from "even on a sunny day":

Do you drink rosé un-chilled?

Dude, it's like you don't even know me anymore...

I meant that a cold beer is lovely on a sunny day. But even then, I'd rather have rosé.

I can't recall ever having a glass of rosé that I liked.

Clearly, I've been doing it wrong.

Try to find some Ruby Hills Zin Rosetta. It's a perfect picnic wine - sweet, cold, light, yet with darker subtle hidden notes from its zin origin.
