Yes, this caused me to have a three day weekend. Just got back from a BBQ that will likely end up back in the toilet before the end of tonight.

Heh. Seeing how I felt like I was gonna barf last night and was hanging out in the bathroom anyways, I figured I'd scrub out my toilet. I didn't hurl, but I did get out the remains my wife's bout from the night previous.

I worked on a plan to kill my solictor all friday morning, picked up the Kids and delivered them to the soon to be ex-wife.

Saturday i worked all day which was mostly pretty good and i smashed my weekly probation targets after a slow week. To celebrate i went to a friends and took thier hard earned money off them playing Texas Holdem.

Today im off to a Magic prerelease tournement and then 10 pin Bowling with lots of hawt young layyydee's.

All in all a good weekend, all i need now is to borrow a lazer wounted Wombat to kill said solicitor.

How are your kids handling everything, tarv? And what is your solicitor doing that's got you so angry?

Just make sure you don't feed them after midnight. Also, the laser might need some additional deuterium.

The kids are actually doing pretty well, we have settled into a mutually agreed patern of visits and it seems to be going well, as soon as i'm in my new flat plans are for weekend stay overs which will allow her some much needed time off.

My Solicitor is "acting in my best interest" which appears to be code for ignoring what i'm telling her to do and doing her own thing. it's so far delayed the flat buying buy 6 weeks now and i'm begining to lose my sence of humour about it all.

her latest effort was to demand full disclosure of finances off my wife dispite me telling her on at the very least 5 occasions that I didn't want that to happen given the timescale it would take to achieve and the fact it would make no difference to any agreement anyway.

That's good to hear. I'm glad they're coping well.

Solicitors aren't simply wives. You can't just dump them for making demands on your time.

. . . or spend a few hours on the interwebs and avoid paying a blood-sucking lawyer and do it yourself.

2 house purchases and 1 divorce and I never paid a solicitor a penny.

Srsly - once you get through the "Oh it's not as simple as that" bullcrap from the legal community, you'll find it's lemon-squeezy.

Way to create jobs in your local community, ********************** sure as hell aren't any fat-cat lawyers living in my community, bumface.

In terms of house buying and selling, UK solicitors charge an inordinate fee for completing forms you can fill in yourself in 5 minutes. They also negotiate, and my experience, as a negotiator, is that they're *****.

The same was true of the divorce. A few simple forms, a few court fees and a firm negotiating line allowed me to put the kids first, make sure I could afford to raise them, and still allow their mother to maintain a decent lifestyle.

Fat cat lawyers? Don't you make some absurd sum of money every year?

We didn't have a lawyer when we bought our house, and I hear the iPhone is coming out with an app for a divorce, so there's that.

I got a lawyer to help when I bought my house, but his fee was small and he was very helpful. I've heard all kinds of stories about crazy lawyer fees for buying a house though.

I do earn a highly competitive salary, but if I earned it by filling in forms that even Varrus could understand, I propbably wouldn't feel the satisfaction that my career proffers.

You hired a lawyer to buy a house? Did you have a real estate agent as well? Cause that would be redundant, I'd think. I managed to buy my condo without paying a penny to anyone aside from actual mortgage and escrow stuff. Helps when you have relatives who work in both the real estate and mortgage brokerage businesses, I suppose...

There were some flags that went up when dealing with the people. They couldn't afford the property tax for one, and they had some leans against the house, so it was much easier to hire a lawyer to ensure that I wasn't screwed over in the deal. It was someone I knew socially though, so that probably helped.

Sympatico was the Mexican beer of choice in the drinking establishment I worked at. The black bottle made it look classy.
