George is dead.

Honestly, I don't know whether to be a little inwardly pleased that the universe is a little less dark today, or head to the airport to buy a ticket to NYC so I can **** on home plate at Yankee Stadium.

I was a bit sad to hear of Bob Sheppard's passing.

George, though, can burn.

I like George Steinbrenner, but only because he was very funnily portrayed by Larry David.

Spent 1.8 billion dollars over the last decade on baseball players.

EDIT: and only won 2 championships. So he drove up the prices astronomically for everyone else and still lost or didn't even get a chance to play for it 80% of the time.

[George is talking about himself in the third person]
George Costanza: I think it's time for George's lunch.
George Steinbrenner: Yes, it is. Let's see what I got today. Ham and cheese again. And she forgot the fancy mustard. I love that fancy mustard. You could put that fancy mustard on a shoe and it would taste pretty good to me.

You people actually think he's dead?

Take a look at what tax expires this year.

Seinfeld references, however, are fully respectful and appropriate.

Ash,

Try the inheriance tax. Do you think a guy worth nearly 1 billion would fake his own death to avoid having half his weath confiscated by the govn upon his death?

Iam,

Good for him if that's what he's done. The fact that you think the govn should be able to confiscate half your property upon your death speaks volumes. I'm guessing you don't have anything worth leaving to relatives.

Or any relatives worth leaving it to.

What ever happened to personal responsibility and self-reliance?

It speaks volumes all right. I swear this sounds like one of those "Who dies with the most toys, wins" window decals.

It's true, I am concerned about people more than I am about property.

Moe,

Because it's so difficult to imagine someone like Steiny faking his death to save his family hundreds of millions.
