Yard work, garden work, exercising, maybe see the new predator movie (depending on whether some other plans fall through or not).

What's on the table for keeping them from destroying the house? Do you have your emergency stash of alcohol located in discreet places all over the house?

Today was Xaviers first day of 3rd grade Smiley: eek Due to the craziness that is my county, somehow it was decided that if I provide transportation he could stay at his old school instead of his district school because our YR calendar option was full. As his old school is actually closer to us than in our old house, we decided to go for it. So I am now officially a PJ wearing, coffee drinking carpool Mama. He had a good day despite the fast that we didnt have the supply list since we had no clue until just recently where he was going to BE for school, so tomorrow consists of school supply shopping. As I browsed the list my mouth dropped. I dont have a flipping middle school kid, but the amount of things he needs is insane for 3rd grade Smiley: oyvey

Sunday the two older boys and I are heading out with a bunch of other moms and kids and we're going horseback riding. Should be fun. I havent been riding in years and I miss it dearly.

I just now spent an ungodly amount of money to buy a plane ticket to MN. So, I feel broke. That means not much in the 'fun' dept. this weekend.

No big plans. We have a bunch of blueberry bushes growing wild about our place. They're full of berries and ripe enough to start picking. I guess berry-picking will have to do for my weekend excitement. blAh!

We're going to hang out at the Y's pool for a while, do some park exploring and take in a minor league baseball game. My alcohol supplies are front and center. Even the 14 month old has had sippies from dad's glass.

we only have a minor league team here. The games are a lot of fun, small stadium where every seat is good, no painted-faced drunken brutes - and SO much cheaper than the pros. Maybe I need to check the Seadogs schedule this weekend for something to do.

I'm flying in to Mpls on the 31st, but I'll only be in the city long enough for a family picnic (my hubby's family - he'll be owing me). Then I'll be heading up to my Dads place in Northern WI. Dad slid through a bout of prostate cancer a couple years ago. Just this week however, his psa count sky-rocketed. So I moved my visit up a bit. I'm gonna go sit through all his tests with him. They're in Duluth...a pleasant enough city to spend the day in. I think I'll not be back in the cities til the day I leave. I'll not get to the State Fair again, grrr! (can't get a decent corndog out for nothin').

Year round calendar. We looove it (even, dare I say, my son?). Instead of the traditional calendar, YR has school nonstop. There are 4 different calendar options called tracks. Each track has 9 weeks of school, then three weeks off. One track is always out on vacation while the other 3 are in.

By the time 9 weeks of school is nearing, Xavier is dying for a break. And after 3 weeks of vacation he's dying to go back to school. They spend less time reviewing past year stuff, which gives them more time to learn new things. Our area has a ton of track out camps all year long so there is plenty of camps to send the kiddies to if they want. And I dont have to worry about a kid bored out his mind in the middle of summer Smiley: grin

It's pure awesomeness

So kind of like a college that has "quarters"? In my case, it was 10 weeks in, and about 2 weeks out not counting Christmas and Spring Breaks which oddly enough happened in the "middle" of a quarter.

Sounds similar. And depending on what track you get, you could have extra time off between as the only time the school closes down completely is Christmas vacation and last week for the 4th of July. So if you're on a track where that cuts into your 9 weeks in school, bonus. Or if you're on the track my son has, those weeks happen right before or after he would normally be on vacation, so he gets an "extra" week off his 3 week break. So two times a year he gets a 4-5 week break instead of a 3 week break.

And keep in mind its pretty damn hot here in the summer, so there isnt much you can do during a long summer break outside. It's much more fun having the month of Sept or Oct off when its beautiful out.

The only thing I can think of that sucks for YR (for the kiddos at least) is that if they have no school due to inclement weather, since school is basically open all year, with no snow days added on, they have to make up that school day on a Saturday. But it's a half day where they goof off and have fun and it doesnt happen often so I have no sympathy for them Smiley: wink

Since we moved and thought we had to switch schools for this year, I gave Xavier the choice in picking Traditional or YR. He told me straight up he wanted YR, and while he would (kind of) understand if the county couldnt place him there, he wouldnt be happy about having to go to traditional.

There's a new Predator movie? Surprising news, especially coming from someone who doesn't watch TV and didn't recognize ...some other movie release in ...some other thread.

That school's schedule sounds intriguing.

Myself, I'll be getting some to do's done this weekend. Pricing out doors at Lowes for my condo, so I can submit it to the evil HOA for approval. I'm also behind on a project at work, so I may have to put in some time there as next weekend is shot do a trip back to Montana.

My son also goes to a year round school. He starts Thursday, the 15th. His operates a bit differently than DSD's in that it's the only school in this area that's YR. The rest of the schools here are on a traditional schedule. My son likes it though. 6 weeks off in the summer, 3 weeks for fall and spring, 2 weeks at Christmas. But he gets snow days.

As for my plans, nothing yet. I'm actually off this weekend. In fact, I am off until Wednesday, woot! Laziness and wine are the biggest things planned.

I painted a door. It now looks much less like it had been used as a balistics shield in a previous life. Also added a kick plate, so I can kick it. Other than that, my first ever ripened blueberry ripened, which I ate, and I then proceeded to barbique a cow slab.

Hup Holland Hup. Hopefully winning a jersey since I picked Netherlands in work pool. Also, the Germany/Uruguay game was one of the better games in the cup so far. Was going to work overtime yesterday but the state is only allowing OT on weekdays now. Other than that, a whole lot of nothing.

I approve of your support of the Netherlands, however the octopus has predicted Spain to win so I am doubtful.
Then again, the Octopus had every game right two years ago except for the finals.

Yes I saw the video. I think the octopus can go for a ride in a blender. I thought it was humorous that death threats were being sent to the aquarium after it correctly picked Spain over Germany.

Mia starts Kindergarten on Tuesday. :(

I have been so busy with the kids, I have been neglecting my FTOD duties. Burton is now nearly 3 months and quite a handful, Mia is off to school soon and Jack is a total tornado of a boy. It's nuts around here. We are planning our trip back to the motherland for next month. Trying to work some exercise into the mix. I have no time left.

Bobdammit.
