Since it's absolutely impossible for someone to convert to another religion, I see your point. I'm fairly certain he attended both Catholic and Muslim schools. His father was a Muslim, yes, but he moved back to Kenya when Barrack was 2 or 3. His mother was an atheist.

Despite what it may do to my sterling reputation on these fora, I actually somewhat agree with this statement, however non-sequitor to the topic at hand.

However, after putting on my pedantry cap, I'd point out that his policy proposal is to cease all "deep-water" drilling for six months, which is most, but not all, Gulf drilling. On the other hand, should one of the "shallow-water" wells explode and leak oil, they couldn't do as much to clean it up given the proximity to the shoreline.

LeBron signed with Miami, where there's no state income tax. Smiley: laugh

Edit: And the Knicks basically forfeited their past two seasons to clear enough cap space to bring him to New York this year. But wait, they signed an aging power forward who's had micro-fracture surgery, a detached retina, and has never played a complete season! Why wouldn't he want to sign up for that?!

Jophed,

Just making the point that you only pretend to care about something when it fits into your ideological template.
So you're saying that liberals only care about....things that they care about?

You b*tch about the environment yet don't care that Obama hasn't done sh*t about the Gulf; while you same f*cks pretended to care about the gulf after katrina.
I care quite a bit. I'm not happy with the situation in the GoM at all. I think BP's pretty much got the Federal Gov't in their pocket at this point.

What?

You preteneded to care about dealing with radical muslims then you elect one to be president. And the list goes on and on.
Ok this one makes no sense on several levels. First of all, Obama is clearly not a radical Muslim. If he was, I'm pretty sure we'd have sharia and fatwah's and all that crap going on by now. Last time I checked, women could still go out without their face covered. Second: assuming he was a Muslim, wouldn't electing one President qualify as "dealing with" them?

Obama didn't spill the oil. The moratorium on further deep sea drilling is about as proactive as you can get in fending off another such occurrence. Why even bring the former pres into this?

I usually don't intrude on political posts here; I prefer to grab a bowl of popcorn and just read them, but it absolutely astounds me that people are still saying things like this:
Quote:

Do you even know what a radical Muslim is? I'll give you a hint: 9/11/01. Secondly, who cares if he was raised as a Muslim or anything else? I don't know Obama's faith, nor do I care, for even a minute. Not everyone of a certain faith is an extremist.. It's not like a Muslim president is going to fill the Constitution with Islamic laws. Last time I checked, there was still religious freedom in this country. If fact, even if Obama was a Muslim and did fill the Constitution with religious laws, it's not like you'd have a right to complain. Based on this:
Quote:
Until then it's just posturing for one very small degenerate segment of society desperate for some authority to validate their lifestyle choice.

It looks like you have absolutely no problem with imposing a religious law on an entire nation.

Yeah, but who was responsible for 9/11? The US government in a massive conspiracy. And whose at the head of the US government? Barack HUSSAIN Obama.

God, woman... stick to lurking...

It's the nature of the beast. Most of the big, technical, expensive, rare pieces of equipment that are necessary to stop and clean up this spill belong to the industry. We need them. If the incident gets federalized, BP take their toys, goes home pouting and waits for the bill. The response would suffer greatly.

It astounds me someone would actually treat this site like it's a movie.

So you want the equivalent of a 30% sales tax which inherently disincentivizes economic growth and trade as well as makes tax evasion easier by several orders of magnitude, and encourages a very weird subsystem of macroeconomic strategy?

You also realize that it is against your own personal self interest based on your economic status?

Man, I'm glad you aren't an economic policy maker.

What form would you like tax to take?

New York's taxes are so high because of the social services the offer. Offer fewer services, require fewer taxes. You can't do that, of course, because there are too many people relying on the services. The result is people who can, leave. It's like a microcosm of America. Too many people with too much dependence on government to vote out the people who keep f'ucking the "rich" people.

What form should the tax take? A significantly smaller one. People who can't afford to live in New York should move somewhere cheaper.
