Associated Press wrote:
The federal law banning gay marriage is unconstitutional because it interferes with the right of a state to define the institution and therefore denies married gay couples some federal benefits, a federal judge ruled Thursday in Boston.

U.S. District Judge Joseph Tauro ruled in favor of gay couples' rights in two separate challenges to the Defense of Marriage Act, known as DOMA, a 1996 law that the Obama administration has argued for repealing. The rulings apply to Massachusetts but could have broader implications if they're upheld on appeal.
[...]
The act "plainly encroaches" upon the right of the state to determine marriage, Tauro said in his ruling on a lawsuit filed by state Attorney General Martha Coakley. In a ruling in a separate case filed by Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, Tauro ruled the act violates the equal protection clause of the U.S. Constitution.

Another case destined to be upcoming for the SCotUS, I imagine.

I have no problem with this. I think it's a fair interpretation of the clause. I think that as long as the same judge is willing to rule that the individual states have the right to define marriage how the choose then he's probably going to be do just fine.

Never happen.

You don't actually think the homosexual community will stop there do you?

At the very least they'll deny funding to states that don't change their laws to suit them. Do you really think Obama and his crew wouldn't do that?

I hope he does. I don't know under what pretext he could, but I hope he pulls the rug out from all the backward *** states that still don't understand equal rights.

Kaelesh,

Talk to me about equality when we abolish the irs and institute a national sales tax. Until then it's just posturing for one very small degenerate segment of society desperate for some authority to validate their lifestyle choice.

What a surprise. Liberals pretend to care about the rights of one class while doing everything they can to ignore the rights of another.

Can we say "warrantless wiretaps"...how long did we have to listen to them spout off about this. And the funny thing is Obama has done that and more and not a peep from these people.

It makes me sad to think that the immoral degenerates have deceived so many.Smiley: frown

Jophed,

Just making the point that you only pretend to care about something when it fits into your ideological template. You b*tch about the environment yet don't care that Obama hasn't done sh*t about the Gulf; while you same f*cks pretended to care about the gulf after katrina. You pretend to care about an individuals privacy until it's one of your own that's doing the snooping. You preteneded to care about dealing with radical muslims then you elect one to be president. And the list goes on and on. I can't imagine the self loathing you people must experience on a daily basis in order to believe what you do.

.....You want to live in this country without paying taxes then complain about freeloaders.

Oh yeah, and just about everything else in that paragraph is factually incorrect...and U KNOW IT IS.

Elinda,

Stupid ***** it's never been about paying taxes. It's about people being taxed fairly. Taxes should be collected for one reason and one reason alone; national security, yes this includes the roads. Everything else should be the responsibility of the states.

Take New York for example. If they didn't have a state income tax they might have been able to persuade Lebron to play in NY thereby helping the cities economy grow by far more than Lebron would have paid in the state income tax. But stupid b*tches like yourself just don't get this.

Besides the obvious cheap shot I could make about your disgusting rape of the English language, I have a few problems here... First of all, the above quote. Isn't the political right still on Obama's *** for sitting in that church for 20 years? You know, the Christian church he went to that coincidentally proves he's a Muslim? What basis do you have for this claim? Is it his book quote about siding with the Muslims that was revealed to be a hoax? Have you read his book?

Also, "lifestyle choice." At what point in your life did you choose to be straight? Or is that the natural thing? If you're going to appeal to nature, I'd be more than willing to list 100 animals that exhibit homosexuality.

Elinda,

You're delusional if you think Obama has done anything to help the gulf disaster. In fact his efforts have been counterproductive. He's used this disaster to try and completely shut down drilling in the gulf. And they're still blaming it on W even though Obama's administration gave that oil rig an award.

Barrack Hussein Obama was raised as a muslim that's a fact.

Now let's look at how you people reacted to the govn reaction to Katrina. W offered federal assistance two days before the hurricane hit. He offered it after it hit. The Democrat governor at the time refused all this help then turned around and decryed the govn for not doing enough and like good little goose stepping liberals you all fell in line.

and I can go on and on. You know i'm right.
