Actually, my family traditionally attended a pigroast for the 4th. Back when the "adults" were younger and fit (and alive) this involved a giant firepit filled with wood and a whole hog. My dad used to be the cook and my brother and I would spend the morning of the 4th splitting wood while my dad prepped the carcass before going to the parades.

We're still trying to figure out the best place to take our picnic dinner here in DC. There's security checkpoints around the Mall, so we're thinking someplace along the VA side of the Potomac. It's a ridiculous 95F though so we're also bringing along umbrellas for portable shade.

So, besides me, who else has to work on the 5th? Litigation deadlines looming this week so I had to come in.

Was supposed to work this morning but the boss man came in on Friday and told the management they were crazy for being open. So yay free unexpected holiday day - I got a real three-day weekend. Perfect timing for the breaks to go out on the car!
I'm off today, though I'd rather be at work.
Since we had to work through our Memorial Day weekend, they gave us an extra day to use when we wanted. I chose tomorrow, so I essentially have a 4 day weekend. Doesn't matter as I'll most likely do ****-all with it.
