My argument on why it is more likely more harm than good is the simple fact of not being sober.

There you go! Thats why your (and many peoples) argument is so crass when it comes to the 'illegal' drugs they are railing against. If they had ever actually experienced any of those drugs they wouldn't be framing their opinions in the context of 'sobriety' which is a term most commonly used in connection with alcohol, which is usually their only experience of 'drugs' and if you want to see people doing 'stupid', just head to your nearest bar.

Almalieque wrote:
If you are functional enough where you can prevent yourself from doing stupid things while under the influence, then I would concede, but that's kinda like being sober isn't it?!?!

No. The effects of the drugs you are talking about are vastly different from the effects of alcohol.

For example...I'm completely straight atm, and I'm doing the 'stupid' thing of posting in this thread in the hope of showing a know-nothing-ignorant teenager that they don't know what they are talking about and they ought to accept that.

If I had just smoked a fat spliff I'd probably be doing something a lot less stupid and far more productive.

Are these your final words of "wisdom"? There isn't much substance. Maybe you should try again.

Believe what you want, but just don't swear around him. He's actually 9.

That would explain a LOT.

I was that kind of 9 year old, too.

Power Rangers at nine? No wonder you're so developmentally stunted.

I stopped around 10-11. It was hot back then with the first movie and everything. I did make a decision that I was "too old" to be watching Power Rangers and began to force myself to stop. Luckily, the show became instantly stupid with rapid changes and I lost interest anyway.

As I see grown adults now loving Hello Kitty, Sponge Bob, Dora, etc., I have a hard time believing that my development was "stunted" for watching Power Rangers at the age of 9...... >.>

Is there really a problem with that? I *love* Jack's Big Music Show!

Hate SpongeBob with the burning passion of a thousand suns, though.

No there isn't... That's my point. Before I was making this huge effort to "grow up" out of certain shows, only to later realize that adults still watch children shows.

My favorite is when people make fun of me for watching cartoons, especially anime and yet they watch The Simpsons, South Park, etc. I have to burst their bubbles and tell them that those are indeed cartoons as well.

Power Rangers is for very young children in the sense that it's absolutely godawful and anyone older should really know better.

No dude, Allegory being a 9-year-old slight intellectual genius, slight social ****** On The Spectrum would explain a lot.

When I was 9 I was a fast Rubick's Cube solver, I read LOTR for the first time, I was always picked last for the sport's teams and I spent lunch-times in the library out of the way of the school bullies. I spent as little time talking to all my family members as possible. When I was 15 and I caught an empty cardboard box that was thrown to me I was so proud.

Oh, I guess I should say something on topic. I don't do "drugs" and I barely drink, let alone smoke, but I don't mind my friends using whatever as long as they've got it under control on a recreational basis, and don't harm others with secondary smoke/uncontrolled behaviour. I think all of the drugs should be sold in pure, controlled doses through pharmacies, and people should get a drug-use licence to qualify for buying them, like a driving licence. The licensing process should be educational, and you should get marks against it, and loose your licence if you behave badly while under the influence.
