Yes, because Hello Kitty and Dora are so much more adult themed...

I knew what you meant, I was only joking.. I keep forgetting that jokes should be funny....

There is probably a time difference. Most people who watched Power Rangers will agree that the original cast was the best and went down hill after that.

Aethien wrote:
It was always the Turtles for me, power ranges are wussies compared to teenage mutant ninja turtles.

I started out on the Turtles and am fan of them as well, but wussies in comparison might be too far, seeing as the Rangers were much more violent.

Edit: So I was browsing You Tube looking over funny dubs and apparently the Turtles actually guest starred on an episode of Power Rangers... Didn't go through the whole thing, but I would definitely go with the Turtles on that one, which is pretty sad since it wasn't even their show.

Same here, and I'm so glad.

Though, I also watched half an old episode of Scooby Doo a few years back and I cannot for the life of me figure out why I loved that show so much, so I guess kids are just messed up no matter what generation.

Also, those "adults" who love Sponge Bob and Dora are just plain strange. Hello Kitty is sort of cute, in a Betty Boop sort of way, I guess, but I never got into that, either. (I guess it makes me sort of a hypocrite to still be in love with the Disney movies, though, huh?)

Oh, and comparing South Park and (to a lesser degree) The Simpsons to kid's cartoons is sort of silly.

I spend so much time with Thom watching the Noggin (Nick Jr) channel I've developed a taste for some of the shows.

Enough to watch them if your son wasn't around?

I like some Sponge Bob. But no, I don't watch it if Noah's not around. Also, iCarly's not a bad little show. Beats the hell out of Hannah freakin' Montana.

My husband said he wants to see that because parts of it were filmed on the square in Columbia. I said that was grounds for divorce.

I made that comparison when I was being made fun of for watching anime, which have similar "adult" themes.

In any case, there is a difference between children cartoons and adult cartoons, but you can't pretend that there isn't one saying "I don't watch any cartoons", then watch the Simpsons... That doesn't make any sense.

Oh, that's right. My mistake. I just remembered it and didn't look back to find the context. Sorry.

True, but I'm betting that, in their head, they don't count it as a cartoon, because they associate cartoon with silly kid stuff that I would never ever admit to watching!

People are weird.

Tv for kids is more damaging than drugs for adults.

True fact.

Sometimes I'll watch Jack's big Music Show or The Upside Down Show even if Thom's still asleep, and it happens to be on...and I can't be bothered to find the remote...

That's exactly what it is. One guy said how much he hated anime and later said.. "Cowboy Bebop" is pretty cool.

Just like those people who "don't play video games" but play Halo or Madden. Xbox ruined gaming, I like it when it was reserved for real gamers :(

I would say that Sony initiated the mainstreaming of videogames, but Microsoft finished it. I love Nintendo and the Wii, but they sold out as well with the Wii. I never seen so much garbage of random @$$ games on one system. On the flip side, the Wii serves as a great "gate-way drug" for your female significant other.

OH yea, notice how I tied that back to topic!!

I didn't say that there weren't any. I just said it's a gateway drug for your female significant other. There is a female gamer base (so I've been told), but the odds of the average female you meet that is remotely up to date in gaming is low.

The gateway drug comment also holds true for parents and over all non-gamers.

I just get sick of hearing stuff like this. Sure, it holds true for "over all non-gamers," but why would you feel the need to single out females instead of just saying "over all non-gamers?"

Many parents these days grew up as gamers. Between my wife and I we have several dozen old gaming systems, going back to NES and Ataris and some other obscure shit she has. A Bally, maybe?

Easy.

Since females play games too, they are the largest sub-group of "non-gamers" out there. You are much more likely to get your girlfriend/wife to play then you are any other group of the "non-gamers", i.e. someone 3-4 decades older than you.

Alma doesn't know how to talk to girls or understand them.

Especially the Asian ones that con him into buying expensive tea.

You mean the same ones that ended up paying for everything and complaining that I scammed them?
