Those two just can't seem to keep out of the news, and not in a good way. Smiley: oyvey

Call it the fundraiser that went terribly wrong.

An attorney for a resident of Madrigal Lofts, a condominium building in downtown Washington, D.C., is asking the Senate campaign of Democrat Alexi Giannoulias to investigate an alleged incident of “harassment, intimidation, and assault” that occurred after a recent rooftop fundraising event.

From the facts in the article, it doesn't appear that Giannoulias or anybody from his campaign was involved, but add this to the slew of articles coming out against both him and Kirk, and it's enough to fill a primetime drama.

For what it's worth, the latest poll posted on POLITICO shows Giannoulias leading Kirk by one point (with a 4.2% margin of error). And the Green Party candidate polled at 14%!

Man, I really don't like Giannoulias (although like you said, he seems to have had nothing to do with the rooftop event). I voted for Hoffman in the primary but now I'm stuck with this dolt on the ticket. I actually voted against Giannoulias for treasurer the few years back.

I actually considered Kirk back when he was still billing himself as a moderate quasi-independent. Now that he's a hack who lied about his military and teaching career and walked back every non-party line vote he's ever cast, I'm stuck without a single guy I actually want to cast a ballot for. I suppose I'll be voting party this year.

*Shrug*

I voted Republican (Christine Radogno) against Giannoulias last time. I really do dislike the guy. Won't vote for Kirk though.

I know you can't understand that someone would be loathe to vote for a poor candidate even if it's in their party but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

The fact that he ran his family bank into the ground, even without being heavily involved in mortgage-backed securities, did not lend well to his credentials.

However...

This.

He'll probably come up with some half-assed evidence like a certificate of live voting instead of a voting certificate.

Not senate race related but yesterday's Sun-Times article on the Blagojevich trial was pretty funny reading.
Quote:
So Blagojevich decided he had something in mind -- for himself.

"Let's go down the pecking order. . . . What else is good? Ambassador to the UN?" Blagojevich is heard saying in a secretly recorded call with his top aide, John Harris.

Harris: "No way."

Blagojevich: "Right, keep going ... "How about India? How about South Africa? That's realistic? No s---."

Not every aspect of a possible move to India enthralled Patti Blagojevich.

"I don't know what the hell Amy'd be eating over there," she snaps, referencing their daughter, during a separate phone call.
[...]
"So I'm the governor of a $58 billion corporation, why can't I be ambassador to India?" he asks Harris. He then queries: "What's more important, commerce secretary or ambassador to India?"

He goes on: "Canada? France?"

Harris: "All those are easier than India."

In an exchange with his wife, Patti Blagojevich begins doing what appears to be Internet research on the current Indian ambassador -- a "white guy right now, David C. Mulford" -- and on the ambassador's residence in New Delhi.

"How are the running routes around there?" Rod Blagojevich is heard asking.

"Congested, I'm sure," Patti says.
[...]
Also on tape, Patti Blagojevich calls her husband the day that Obama's elected to report a U.S. senator's salary.

Patti Blagoejvich: "Um, hey, uh senators make $169,300," adding: "I think you make about the same."

"No, I make one sixty," Rod Blagojevich says. "Hundred sixty-nine, huh?"

And yet, it's not as belligerent/offensive as most of the quotes in the arrest warrant filings. Smiley: oyvey
