Joph,

Actually all he has to do to win is invite Obama to come support his opponent. That and promise to repeal obamacare.

Luckily for him, his opponent is Alexi Giannoulius.

The fact that Giannoulius is beating him in the polls should be enough to drive Kirk off a cliff if he had any sense of shame.

At the risk of biting on the "two wrongs make a right" silliness of your post, is 25 years in prison the normal sentence for a first time offense for personal quantities of a controlled prescription drug? I'm pretty sure everyone gets to do community service and/or some drug counseling program and some probation for that, not just Conservative radio hosts.

I don't know about the rest of the country, but around here fiddling with your prescription at all is a felony. Getting duplicate prescriptions from multiple doctors and thence getting multiples of your 'scrip filled at the same time is a Class 1 Felony and will easily get you 20 years. Incidentaly, doing this across state lines makes it a federal case.

To put this in perspective, I know an individual who got a 'scrip for 4 Vikoden after oral surgery. He added a zero to make it 40. That alone got him 2 years in state prison. And, yes; that was his 1st offence of any kind.

I get it,though, gbaji; you believe rich, influential people should not be held to the same laws as the rest of the country. Especialy when they are your parties' best propogandist.

Rush's case in particularily abhorrent given his years of screaming for harsh penalties for drug users.

It doesn't answer the question I asked: "Is it normal to send someone to prison for 25 years for that sort of offense". The answer you're trying to avoid giving is "no".

Can we lay off the hyperbole here?

Hey, Eichmann, if the bolded part is an issue for you would you terribly mind complying as well?

I mean, really, how long until you quit bringing up Clintons' Presidency?

ALSO: The drug incident about which I wrote is quite true. If you don't want to believe it, well...who ******* cares? Maybe drug offences get you a slap on the wrist out there in lotusland; here in flyover they throw the book at you.

And yes, Rush's non-arrest is still an issue as long as he continues to carp about any law and order issue. Unless, of course, you think raving hypocrites are excellent spokespeople for your political party.

What am I saying; of course you think that.Smiley: rolleyes

Misuse of schedule II drugs is 2-15 years in NJ for the first offense. Since it's a federal government is involved in setting the guidelines for the penalties, I'd imagine, but I'm not positive, that that would be similar in Florida and New York.

Easy enough to look it up. Looks like it's a Class 4 felony, which in SD carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and/or $20K in fines. That's if they didn't think he intended to distribute. Pretty much in line with the penalty he received.
