Why denigrate football(soccer) players? They're absolutely extremely fit and athletic.

Wised,

You're joking right?

I'd love to see one of those little bitty soccer players handed a football as they try and get a yard or two. It makes me just thinking about it.

Whether you people want to admit it or not unintentional genetic breeding in the south has produced the largest, fastest, and toughest athletes in the world.

You did read what I wrote didn't you? I can watch the sport but theres too many breaks in play which make it less entertaining too many switches its not fast paced enough, only really gets entertaining in the final quarter.

Xarus,

I know you're right. They are excellent atheletes. It's just entertaining watching people here try and convince me of it.

mojivo,

Well you did insinuate that the south is still engaged in selective breeding.

Perhaps you just misunderstood what "selective" means.

I think it means you "select" your siblings, cousins or parents to breed with. In which case, Majivo was spot-on.

The word I put emphasis on was unintentional. Surely even you aren't dumb enough to think that means the same thing as claiming that it's still ongoing. Are your reading skills really that horrible?

Even if England beat Germany, they're likely to face Argentina in the Quarters. And I don't think they'll beat the Germans, they're too much of a psychological block.

I do fancy the US against Ghana, though.

I tried to stream the game on my Kindle. It gave me a contemptuous black-and-white look and turned itself off.

The Germans didn't show much in that last match, but they're Germans and those bastards have a tendency to win anyway. Preferably by scoring in the last minute.

That's true but this isn't the Germany we know and love/hate. This Germany lost to Serbia AND missed a penalty. OTOH this is England and we're on form right now, playing mind-games with ourselves and losing.

Or penalties, that works too.
If at all possible not even because they score them all but because the opposing teams fails.
The Germans have done so vs the Netherlands a couple times as well, so obviously I'll be rooting for England and hoping that somehow they'll pull it all together.

I heard that Podolski was the second to miss a penalty after Uli Hoeness. And that was back in 1976? Anyway I wouldn't pay to much attention to losing to Serbia. Plavi have a way of giving hard time to best teams. I was rather surprised that they ended as last too.

That's true, they even finished ahead of France in the qualifying groups.

Oh wait, you said "best teams", nevermind.

NZ's called the "All Whites?" What a clever name.

I was chatting to some Kiwi guy yesterday about this. He told me, word for word: "Our football team is called the All Whites, our rugby team is called the All Blacks, and our basketball team is called the Tall Blacks!"

I think he was joking. New-Zealand doesn't have a basketball team.
