The worst part of pregnancy so far isn't the migraines, white patches on my skin, gas, cankles, or random bouts of sleepy/sleeplessness. Hands down, the thing that pisses me off the most is people's random judgment of my choices when it comes down to how I want to carry this kid, give birth, and raise him/her.

In the past month (since I started showing), I have heard the following comments from strangers and acquaintances:

-"Whoa, you got BIG. Watch that weight." (I gained exactly one pound as of two weeks ago).
-"What DECAFFEINATED treat are you getting today?" (In line at the smoothie/juice counter).
-"What the hell are you doing in those?" (Pointing to my trusty 3-inch red heels).
-"You can't drink. You'll be breastfeeding." (When I commented that I can't wait to give birth and have some wine)

and finally, the kicker today, from one of my staff out of the blue:
-"You know, the Bible says women were meant to give birth in pain. My mother had 12 of us in her bed. You shouldn't even need a doctor."

Also:get the fuck off my belly or risk losing a hand.

So is this really an issue with strangers... or is the problem friends and family?

Strangers and acquaintances. My husband, other child or mother, etc are welcome to touch my belly, but ironically they're the ones who ask first.

I can't really imagine going up to a woman I didn't know and touching her belly. Even women I know and work with I wouldn't do that...

Some people are just odd.

I see that all the time and just cringe. What makes people think that a pregnant woman's belly is community property all of a sudden?

You shouldn't have told anyone that you were pregnant. If anyone was rude enough to mention the increased girth, tell you've been meaning to get to the gym and just haven't managed to find the time yet. You would have been able to make it a good six or seven months before anyone caught on.

It's like they want to "see the wittle bebe", but don't recognize it happens to be encased in my entrails.

Six or seven months? Hell, I made it to 5 but I think seven would be pushing it.

I'm sure internet rants can't be good for the baby.

I touch prego-tummies. I can't help it. There's magic going on in there.

No ultra-sound pics yet?

If a stranger touches your belly, tell them it's a tumor and burst into tears. Sure, I only did it once, but it was deeply satisfying.

Nexa (not Smash, who has not, to my knowledge, been pregnant).

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

It's like you don't even know whose genetic material this baby is made from.

As for the drinking while BFing, tell them to shut up and do their research. Beer actually creates more breast milk and when drunk in moderation and timed correctly, you can drink with no issue. Nurse the baby, have a drink, wait 2 hours. Wash rinse repeat.

I would have ***** slapped the person who said the last part and thought I did this society a service.

If I ever meet you in RL I personally swear I will give you the biggest *** kicking you have ever had the pleasure of receiving, just for this comment alone. Speaking for all pregnant women who loathe to have their tummys touched by complete strangers, who the fuck do you think yu are to violate our personal space just because we had kinky sex and got knocked up and are breeding the next generation of spawn? Seriously? Your rights do not overstep our personal boundaries. Be a doll and ask for permission first. Because that is the grossest breech of personal space I can think of and I can not for the life of me figure out where people like you get off on thinking our bodies are public property just because we have a damn bun in the oven.

DON'T TOUCH THE GOD DAMN BELLY WITHOUT FLIPPING ASKING FIRST!

Flea, unfortunately ******** abound (as you see in this thread as a microcosm of the outside world) and you just need to kick them in the nads and move on. I'd love to say the pathetic judgmental comments stop the moment you pop... but it doesnt. And it's one area where you need to learn over time to trust yourself and your own judgments, parent the way you and Joph decide to, and mentally (and physically sometimes) flip the bird to nosey "know it alls". This is the time I offer advice to find one or two really good parent friends who may or may not parent the same as you, but understand and respect the fact we all parent in different ways and not too many kids grow up as sociopaths. Hugs hon. Kick them in the balls with your stilettos on my behalf when you get a chance mmkay?

It's always been community property, I don't see how pregnancy should change that. Whores.

We have to touch your belly! After all, when you've been throwing up, you're bloated, your feet are swollen, none of your clothes fit, you really DO want pickles with your ice cream, and you sound like a demon-frog everytime you speak, you need personal violation to make your day complete.

When Mrs. Moe was preggers I asked to touch the tummy. I found that the hormone levels associated with cooking hell spawn had the effect of making even the most innocuous actions potentially war-worthy and many things that I take for granted in the non-reproductive state fell in to a category of "watch your ***, mister". One thing I pride myself in is momma didn't raise no dummy.

Pregnant women actually scare me.

Not because they're pregnant, but because they're batshit insane.
