Jonwin and I just got home after a rather eventful weekend. Telling folks how I got my black eye at MDFF, many people were impress that I was attacked by the Un Sidle Gazebo. Turns out one of the Books launch parties was for
The Evil Gazebo. I now own an alphabeted signed copy, Since E, C and M were taken I got the letter "L"
The vintage dresses I had my daughters wear in the Masquerade were a great hit. I enter them out of competition, as I only learn what period the dresses were from as I was filling out the entry forms.
Grandkids were a hit for their costumes, that they put together themselves. Ian was Mario and everyone was impress with his performance of running in place and jumping to the Mario music, the MC was able to find on his computer. Erin got 2 ribbons this year as she won a workmanship award for the fairy wings she made 2 weeks ago at the Maryland Fairy Festival.
I hope to have link to the official photographers website, once he gets them posted. Meanwhile I will be hunting Flickr and Googling for fan photos of the con. We were too busy ourselves to take any pictures.
My daughter just called to let me know that my
penguin got his photo posted on Flickr. That lovely wheelchair was a gift from a friend. She was going to give it to the Club, but when she heard I still hadn't been approved for a wheelchair by my insurance due to fact that I can walk, gave it to me.
The event that nearly ruin my weekend was due to food my oldest had brought for lunch at Wegmans. Though she tried to make sure it was safe for me to eat, it seems that the cauliflower may have been treated with Bi-sufites. Thankfully my Epi-pen was in reach and so I had it out right away and was able to get someone to inject it into my thigh. 911 was called and I earn another ride to the ER, where they watched me for 4 hours since by the time the EMT's had shown up at the Hotel I was no longer gasping for breath. Jonwin and I then went back to the Hotel, were I was just in time for the raffle at
The Bad *** Faeries Book Launch party.
Danielle Ackley-McPhail seeing me enter, Welcome me back by announcing
"Mom's Back!" and a cheer was given by the party attendees. Yes I'm know by many as Jamie and Ruth's Mom or just Mom at events. Jonwin went to our room and got my raffle ticket, which I quickly got in the container for
New Blood artwork, signed by all the authors, editors and the artist, with a very nice belt buckle, necklace, earrings and a tarot deck that I gave to my disappointed daughter. While this is the 2nd year I won something at the party, she once again went empty handed though she was one of only 2 people who put their raffle ticket in for one of the grand prizes.
Next year they will have a Launch party for the Mil-Fic S/F short Stories, where I appear in one of the short stories.
