Then we'd have to get rid of over half the posters on Alla.
Hmm, I don't think too many posters are
unconditionally stupid. Supposedly, he's kept around to amuse the masses, but I just can't fathom how some posters enjoy engaging in such pointless conversation on a daily basis. I mean, once or twice for the sheer amusement, I suppose, but meh...
Varrus reminds me of my cousin so much it's funny. Well, she can write a bit better than he can, and is Cuban by heritage, but offensive paranoia and morally upright hypocrisy is there. I now feel like posting my latest exchange with her... might as well, work is slow.

"(technology)... is putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy." B.O. Awww!!! But wait... this sound familiar... Oh yes, I remember http://www.taringa.net/posts/noticias/1520544/Chavez-y-Fidel-contra-Internet.html
It's not technology, it's the uncontrolled technology B.O. it's afraid of.

Obama says "You should study instead of getting distracted by videogames and iPods" in a commencement speech and THAT'S what you take away from it? o_O

Aw Locke, to be young and innocent! You should really look into buying a communist dictionary, if there is one. Ask any Cuban what happens any time the socialist/progressive, or whatever it is they are calling themselves this days, talk about something in a speech. There are 3 things they need to build socialism, control the education system (done), control the media and information technology (working on it), and control religious activity (hard to do but not impossible for the "Yes we can" crowd).
Interesting how way back in 2008 technology was good for democracy but now it's a "distraction".

LOL, are you saying that you believe Obama is saying videogames are the same as social media programs? You're lumping "technology" into a VERY broad category; again, make the net wide enough and keep things vague enough and you can make anything fit your agenda! Let's try, oh, diet! Food was good back in 2008; we needed enhanced vegetables to export! But now it's bad because of national obesity! Gosh, flip-flopping Obamas!
You're smarter than this, Ayashi; use your brain! It's getting fried under your tinfoil hat! :-)

Excuse me... he said "With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment — rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation. It is putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy."
He should at least learn how they work instead of criticizing what he doesn't even know. The last time I checked the ipods, ipads, xboxes and playstations are all for playing games and powerful tools to access information. Information is power not a distraction!!! Whoever controls the information controls the power!!! And are you telling me video games consoles are not part of technology??? I’m sorry Locke, I know this guy for you is like a God but I have news.
50 years ago my family had similar discussions, and you know what, 20 years ago when we got here, my grandma had to admit to the others how right they had it when they told her what Fidel was going to do with the country. I’ll see you in 30 years!!!

I see you failed to notice (or purposely ignored) that he was making a joke, and the crowd all laughed along with him. Obama is nowhere near God for me, thanks. He's also not Mao or Satan, both of whom you seem to see everywhere :-)
And the US is not Cuba. Well, except Miami.

I'm so glad I have you to explain things like this, you know we paranoid dumb cubans need the guidance of you the inclusive and understanding educated american to explain things like this to us. We think Socialism is the same s@#$ even in different countries... I guess we need to be reformed so we can all cheer and laugh together.
Yup. Idiocy respects no race, creed, or nationality. Granted, I have to love my cousin; I don't have to love Varus.
