When I was installing FFXI for the first time, I had troubles deciding what to name my character. I was listening to a Death Cab for Cutie album pretty incessantly. I figured Guenivere was a good of a name as any, and took the spelling from the CD booklet. Most people ingame called me Guen or Guenny so there's the Alla handle.

As far as my real name, my parents both claim it was solely their own idea to name me Jade, and with completely differently inspirations. My mom says she named me after Brooke Shields' character in Endless Love (which I believe somewhat because she named my littlest sister Amaya after a Real World character), and my dad claims that he got to pick my name because throughout the pregnancy they thought I was a boy. My maiden name was purely Danish, and now it's Norwegian.... yay.

And as far as my catholic confirmation name, I chose Alice, which is my grandma's first name, but she hates that name and goes by her middle name, which is Joyce. Hopefully now that I'm married the USPS will stop getting us confused (though I'm sure I'll continue getting "try this prototype hearing aid for free!" and other AARPish mail forever).

I had a friend in High school that would call me E=MC² when writing me notes, so I figured I needed to add another 'C' initial to my name so took Catherine as my conformation name. They are out of order, but now I'm ECCM.

I named myself sweetums2018 on neopets around a decade ago. I'm too lazy to remember other usernames, so it kind of stuck.

My father hated his first name of Francis. He didn't like being called Fran or Franny.(As an adult he was known as Frank) As first born son I escaped being a Jr due to that dislike. My mom did like my first name, and it turned out my dad had a deceased brother with that name.

For my 3rd brother my mon was able to slip in Francis as his middle name.

My screen name is from Eq 1.0 when I ran around as a mage and found the name of a guy who was scared a lot and dropped bombs seems appropriate.

My real name was a compromise between my Mom who wanted me named Steve and my Dad who wanted Jesse. They named me after an actor. It was a common boy's name. I'd have one or two other boys in my classes with the same name.

Real name: My mother already had two Js and a C, so I became another C to match. A CC in fact. My middle name is Colleen after our 200+ years ago Irish ancestors.

My older sister Carol had the easiest name for my mother - she was born on Dec 23rd.

I have delusions of grandeur. Moebius (duh) lord (really?)- I am master of the infinite.

My parents named me after the first high priest of Israel and the archangel in charge of laying waste to evil doers.

I smell irony.

My screen name came from a David and Leigh Eddings series. The character is actually a guy, but I thought the name sounded feminine so I used it anyway.

My real name is Gaelic for "Noble." At least, that's what I've read on the rare occasions I can find it in a name book.

My mother wanted to name me Krysta Kay. That was my name until the day I was born, actually. She said that when she looked at me, though, she thought Krysta Kay sounded like a blonde and, alas, I am not a blonde. So she changed it to a name she found in a book. She doesn't remember which book, though.

Real name? Simple enough. Named after my dad's best friend. They were both in Vietnam and pledged that if something happened to one of them, the other would name their kid after him. My dad was shot and survived; his best friend was blown up by a mortar was acting as a combat medic. Hence I inherited his name. Middle name is my dad's name (and also his best friend's middle name). Last name is English, and can be traced back 1000 years to the Norsemen and Celtics in Northern England.

Thanks Moe :-P

Fenris/Fenrir is a great wolf from Norse mythology. It was the name of my first WoW character: a warlock. Since those names and the variations were taken on here, I elevated his social status to a Count.

My real name is is Celtic for "flowing from the dark river" or "coming from the dark water". Ominous, and how pleasant! Anthroponomastics aside, I was named after my father.

My forum name comes from Silmarillon dictionary. It means "Cold wolf". Back in high school I thought it was kind of cool and it stuck. It shortens up pretty good, hence I am known in many circles as "Him" even though I am not a particular fan of the band. It made for many funny misunderstandings in games and various forums. Lack of capital letter at beginning is not deliberate, I was just drunk/tired when I made my account and missed it.

My RL name is greek for "Horse Lover" as funny as it sounds nowadays. It's entirely possible that Greeks were more into Equestrianism than giving nicknames for private parts. I am however yet to hear someone referring to meaning of my name. I have never ridden a horse, seen Equus or even had weird fantasies for that matter, so it's pretty far off.

My screen name is the product of needing a name in WoW due to ************** being too long (it was my FFXI name).

It came to me when I was chewing up and sneezed. Upon picking the gum up (5 sec rule!) I discovered there was sand all over it (not sure how, I live near no beach and have 0 sand around my house).

My real life name was picked out of the Bible. Gaven to me by my Father, after many thoughts on a "good" name that no one could make "fun" of. Also a unique name that wasn't shared by others.
The only problem is most pronounce it wrong and end up saying it as a female name - that it does look like. To you all, you are ruhtards (no retards).
It being Elisha. Only about 5 people in my life call me it, I usually just go by Eli. Both are Hebrew names.

I share the spelling with Elisha Cuthbert, who is a hawt so I'm ok with it.

The other parts of my name are my Father's name for a middle name, and then a last name that has been hard to follow back in time. I claim Irish, with the idea of a the Mc/Mac being dropped when they came to America.
