I've lived in and around St. Louis my entire life. I've never been to the arch, but a lot of people say that.
However, this has been here 15 years, and I've never even heard of it. I'd never seen it, I'd never heard someone mention it. I've been driving through downtown St. Louis 4-5 days a week since last August, and I never saw it until just the other day.
Now I've seen it twice. It was quite the shock, the first time, driving down the highway, seeing the familiar skyline, the arch, then this great jet of water as tall as a skyscraper. Apparently it shoots off 4 times a day for a few minutes, from March til November, and its as high as the Gateway Arch. It's called the Gateway Geyser, and it's been installed and running since 1995.
I brought it up in an English class today, and no one had heard of it or seen it. My family had never heard of it or seen it. I find it fairly bizarre.
