No, seriously. Show me some Democrats specifically praising Greece's economic system and saying we should follow it.

Jophed,

I guess we have to wait until it hits spain, italy, and the uk for you to admit that socialism in all forms is a complete failure.

I just hope the liberals don't spend another trillion trying to bail them out.

Oh and I did happen to find;

Obama;

Quote:
Everybody's watching what's going on in Beijing right now with the Olympics. Think about the amount of money that China has spent on infrastructure. Their ports, their train systems, their airports are all vastly the superior to us now, which means if you are a corporation deciding where to do business … you're starting to think, "Beijing looks like a pretty good option." Why aren't we doing the same thing?

Ok ok he's praising communist China here, who uses slave labor to keep wages low.

So you're saying you can't. Ok, then. Wasn't a surprise or anything, I just like hearing you admit it.

Wtf are you talkng about? Canada has a blend between socialism and capitalism, it's got an economy very strongly tied to the US's economy, yet managed to survive the "recession" quite well. Vastly greater than the US itself did, for sure. By no means were things perfect here, but due to government regulations, many of the trap falls that hit the US, never evenpoked their heads our way. The safety nets provided by some of our left leaning policies and regulations, are a uge factor as to why we came out as clean as we did.

While I'll agree that far left practices aren't going to hold up over time, neither are true capitalistic ideals. A blend of both is needed for continued success.

Jophed,

So does this mean the Democrats no longer support the VAT tax?

I mean that is the same EXACT tax system greece is currently using isn't it?

Obama,

Quote:
When asked if he could see a potential VAT in this nation, the president said: "I know that there's been a lot of talk around town lately about the value-added tax. That is something that has worked for some countries. It's something that would be novel for the United States."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100421/ap_on_bi_ge/us_obama_tax

http://www.worldwide-tax.com/greece/gre_other.asp

Sounds to me like Obama is supporting the same tax system that Greece and the other faltering eu countries are currently using.

So does Obama praise Greece? No he just praises their method of doing things.

lmao...considering most Canadians work and earn their money in the USA that's actually pretty funny that you would commend socialism when Canadians can't even find employeement in their own country.

There's no end to your misinformation is there? Care to cite anything, and I really do mean anything, that supports "most Canadians work and earn their money in the USA"?

Kindly show your evidence that >50% of Canadians work in the US, please. I can't find anything. I think you're misrepresenting the truth, ie, lying, ie, being your definition of a liberal.

Ugly,

Do you have any facts disproving my statement? Or do you simply just refuse to do any research of your own? I remember my sociology professor discussing this years ago, that's my source. What's yours?

I'm going to bet that none of your MPs told banks that they'd be dragged over the coals if they didn't lend money to people that every knew couldn't pay back the loans.

    So am I to cover my ears and pretend Canada exists in a pretend economy where more than half it's citizens do nothing but take money earned in the US back to their home country? Sounds like them dirty ull'eagles from that durn Mex-ee-co. Forget Arizona... North Dakota, Washington state and the whole of New England should rally together to card check these damn maple syrup-drinking job stealers, and send them back to their mysteriously (possibly socialist) successful, Canuckistan-prince run country.

    I'd better go tell Glenn Beck. He'd know what to do.

    That'd be a winning bet too. No, our regulations on housing loans are far more strict than yours. But it is a government regulated industry in many aspects. Yours is an example of where government regulation fails. Mine, an example of where it succeeds.

    Just showing that socialism, or in this case, government interference, can be of benefit to everyone. Not that Fuckwit will ever grasp that.

    Varrus, the problem in greece isn't the tax system, it's that people aren't paying taxes. The shadow economy is something like a quarter of their GDP. Combine this with idiotic things like jobs for life in govt among other things, and you have a system that's just begging to fail.

    The people not paying taxes wouldn't be nearly as big of a problem if the government employees had a less extravagant (read: more austere) retirement package.

    Oh absolutely, and it's not like they didn't have a consistent revenue. What they were getting wasn't wildly fluctuating or anything. It's been a problem that's been building a long time.
