Tonight, I go to see the Trevi Fountain, possibly a few other sights in the area. Saturday, we see the Vatican (St. Peter's, Sistine Chapel, Vatican Museum), and try to make it through the Forum. If we can't make the Forum on Sat, we'll do it Sunday instead, in addition to the inside tour of the Colosseum.
I remember on our way to the Trevi Fountain there was a bar with a sign, "Skip the Trevi, have a bevy!" For some reason, we thought that was hilarious and
took a picture of it.
St. Peter's was amazing. The Sistine Chapel... I don't know. Something about being in this huge room with one of the most famous works of art on the ceiling, and looking about to see a ton of people with headphones on and security guards (who stepped out to shush everyone if we got too loud) made it seem a little cheapened somehow. It was difficult to take my eyes off of the mural on the back wall, though. That was very interesting.
We also went to Florence and had the opportunity to see the sculpture of David, which was amazing. They had a room that showed unfinished sculptures, where you could see the chisel marks. For some reason, I found that more interesting than the finished products. Later, we saw
The Duomo. I fell in love. Florence was, by far, my favorite city that we visited in Italy. You know, out of the three that we went to.
