People tend to feel that they shouldn't be so affected because it had nothing to do with them, but that's utter *****. Especially once you have children, the fragility of life tends to shake you. Talk to someone.
As for my weekend, I was having a sleep marathon and watching trash movies. On Saturday, one of my employees called to activate her FMLA because her sick husband (stomach cancer) had gone into ICU. Sunday night he was gone. Yesterday was spent organizing the troops and collecting $$ for a wreath and activating the phone tree to inform people of the location and time of the wake so they could attend prior/after their shift. My whole unit will be in mourning. This lady is a sweetheart, the mom of my staff. Her husband was old-school, and picked her up every day so she didn't have to drive. He had just retired, they had downsized their home to a single-level, and he died angry, resentful, and very quickly.
I have no idea what to say to her other than "I'm so sorry", but I have to go and view the body and say a rosary out of respect for her. Poor lady.
I guess what I'm saying is hug your family, quit stalling, do that thing you were thinking about. We all tend to forget we don't have all the time in the world.
