My hat is off to the man. Not only did he do something that most people wouldn't do but he also didn't go around "blowing his horn" and exclaiming what he did. Too bad most people are not like that (myself included). :S

I'd have jumped in no question, but I'd have probably stuck around to see that everything was ok in the end (though he was probably frozen, maybe didn't speak English, and wanted to get back to his hotel).

He wouldn't be able to show up in 2 weeks and sell his story for money that way. More of a brilliant marketer than a humble hero.
