I hope to someday be able to achieve this level of awesome, where I care more about casting my kid in a role than the fact that I'm dressing her up as a tart and having her killed in a fictional drug massacre.

Scarface video features children. Video report from CNN. Full video here.

Jokes aside, the guy who made this made it as a satire and as a way to "open up dialogue" about violence in the media. Surely not to promote himself as a filmmaker, because I've taken better home videos when drunk.
Quote:
"It's the most in comedy and satire and opposite attracts," he said. "What is the most opposite film there is to children? It's Scarface."

With two young children, Klasfeld said the issue of what is and isn't permissible in media content is a key issue. The Scarface video, he said, might launch a dialog.

"What's interesting to me and my wife is that the video is shocking, yet everyday, we have to guard what our children view from television commercials or video game violence," he said. "So, it's interesting to me on a lot of levels and it's creating that debate."

Right. I'm not sure I've ever had to guard my kid from this level of violence because, well, I FUCKING CONTROL WHAT HE WATCHES AND PLAYS WITH BECAUSE HE'S A CHILD. I'm sure he tried that, already though and making this made more sense.

I saw that on TMZ last night. Pretty damn weird. And yeah, who lets their kids do something like that?

That is AWESOME!

I'm totally doing that to my kids.

We even have an auto repeating NERF gun of awesomeness to use. My 3 year old is a super good bullet retriever!

Have their kids act out violence?

Maybe Thumb can answer your question. Hasn't her kid acted in some fairly violent stuff?

On the grand scale of nasty stuff we do to our kids - I wouldn't rank this one very high.

No no no, good parents read instruction manuals on how to abuse your children while calling yourself a Christian.

Some choice quotes:

Quote:
If you think it is appropriate and you spank him make sure that it is not a token spanking. Light, swatting spankings, done in anger without courtroom dignity will make children mad because they sense that they have been bullied by an antagonists. A proper spanking leaves children without breath to complain. If he should tell you that the spanking makes him madder, spank him again.

Quote:
I could break his anger in two days. He would be too scared to get angry. On the third day he would draw into a quiet shell and obey. On the fourth day I would treat him with respect and he would respond in kind. On the fifth day the fear would go away and he would relax because he would have judged that as long as he responds correctly there is nothing to fear.

Also, good parents fashion whips out of weed-eater cord for children under a year and plumbing line for older kids:

Quote:

For young children, especially during the first year, the rod is used very lightly as a training tool. You use something small and light to get the child’s attention and to reinforce your command. One or two light licks on the bare legs or arms will cause a child to stop in his tracks and regard your commands. A 12-inch piece of weed eater chord works well as a beginner rod. It will fit in your purse or pocket.

Later, a plumber's supply line is a good spanking tool. You can get it at Wal-Mart or any hardware store. Ask for a plastic, 1/4 inch, supply line. They come in different lengths and several colors; so you can have a designer rod to your own taste.

Seriously, I'm boggling here. I'm trying to decide what's most tragic; that someone actually wrote and published a how-to manual for abusing a child, that it's gaining a rather sizable following because it's theoretically a "Christian" method of child-rearing, or that children have already died because of it.

I am LOLing because I can tell you just came from the Anime/TV/Movie forum, since you linked to Glee photos :-P

Or, y'know, perhaps watching Glee is a way for Christian parents to abuse their children?

I'll have to recruit a few black toddlers from a daycare to shoot "Pulp Fiction for Kids".

I don't suppose you saw Bruno.

For those who haven't there's a scene where he's casting toddlers and asking the mothers if their child can lose 10 pounds.

OK. I'll just throw in my two cents since Charmaine's done a bit in the entertainment industry and I'll address this in that vein.

Until that child reaches the age of majority or is granted legal authority in a court proceeding to make their own decisions, it is completely up to the parents on whether they'll accept a role for a child or not.

The craziest role that Ray and I allowed Charmaine to take was her playing the youngest wife of a terrorist. I've talked about the movie in other threads and there was no sexuality or sex in this role. She wore a burkha for all the scenes she was in (which she thought was awesomely fun as she pretended to be a ghost on set). We were concerned at first until we met with the director and producer and they explained her role and we saw the storyboards and the script.

Have we passed on offers? Oh yeah. Charmaine was not about to play a younger Tila Tequila even though she wasn't going to be in the rest of the project, the finished project that Charmaine would have seen was just way too much. We've passed on some seriously weird projects that would have piqued Usagi's interest too much.

Have we met stage parents that really don't care about the welfare of their kid and take any project so they could earn money or credit? Yes and it's heartbreaking. I've seen kids that get so much pressure during an audition that they break down and all you hear are the parents telling them that they HAVE to do this. The only time that I've put my foot down on Charmaine having to do something is because she was offered the part, she decided she wanted to do the part and then she changed her mind later because she was missing out on something fun on a weekend.

Charmaine's aware of how the media and the entertainment industry portrtays things and we've had a open line of communication if she wanted to ask about something she saw in a movie or TV but quite honestly, unless it's iCarly, Hannah Montana or Wizards of Waverly Place, or 24, she's not very interested in watching anything.

I didn't ask that question. the thread title is a statement: "This is what good parents do". Sarcasm.

I was amused that this guy was concerned about what his children were being exposed to and so instead of regulating their intake of TV/games/whatever, he makes Scarface with children.
