Unless it's repealed down the road, yep.

Now I might be wrong, but this does NOT mean it becomes law, right? The Senate still needs to agree to the bill, since it has changed since they approved it in December. Doesn't that mean that any victory is a bit premature, as there is no longer a supermajority in the senate? Or does just a simple majority suffice, and Democrats just need to strike down every stalling amendment the Republicans propose?

You're wrong but it's cool.

The House passed a bill back in... October?
The Senate passed a bill back in December.
Usually, this would result in the two chambers knocking out a compromise bill which would again require passage in both chambers. Instead, the Democrats lost the Mass. senate race and their 60 vote majority to defeat a GOP filibuster.
The House agreed (eventually) to pass the Senate bill untouched if they could also pass a separate reconciliation bill to amend it.
House passed the Senate bill. Since that bill passed both chambers in the same form, it will be signed into law.
House passed the reconciliation bill. Senate debate will start on that one on Tuesday. Even if it somehow failed, the December Senate bill is still law.

Explanation

Cool, thanks. I was wondering how all the bickering about tricky governmental procedures tied into this. Nice!

So now is the economy supposed to magically fix itself?

We've just turned 1/6th of it over to the federal government. Let's see how quickly they can really f*ck it up.

While you're gloating i'm just shaking my head in disbelief at sheer stupidity you people have to think obamacare is going to fix anything.

Who do you think are going to pay for the cost of insuring all these people with pre-existing conditions? Not just the rich all of us.

I know you poor little liberals like to think that just because you don't have to pay for it and the govn tells you it's free it must be free.

Perhaps the only good thing to come out of this is to ensure a complete GOP victory in congress this year. Of course don't tell the liberals that because it'll mean that obamacare wasn't what the people wanted and was in fact just liberals shoving their socialist ideology on the rest of the populace.

Right, because things were doing so well in the hands of self-serving CEOs.

I still find it abhorrent that you think it better for people with preexisting conditions to be denied coverage entirely, and believe the system is perfectly fine like that. Or that people whose preexisting conditions are discovered are stripped of their coverage. Yeah, that's a great idea too.

Personally, I'm glad an industry that is capable of deciding whether people live or die ( and does ) gets more regulated.

I'm not sure why you think this should upset me.

I am happy to see something passed. Lol, at McCain who has threatened to 'repeal' it.

I'm rather disappointed in the substance though, or lack of it. I just can't help feeling that the insurance companies had way too much sway, and, consequently, I think they will reap the most reward...initially at least.

It's a step.

I wonder how much money the insurance companies spent trying to stop it?

And don't forget all those greedy doctors making those exhorbitant salaries. Just as soon as you liberals take care of those big bad ceo's then you'll go after the doctors right? I mean we can't have people making life decisions based on how much money they're going to make can we?

Locked,

No ones said the current system is perfect. But turning it over to the federal govn was the worst thing that could be done.

I'm tired of you taking about freedom.

If this country was free, we could all just simply decide we'd like to cut your fingers off so we wouldn't have to read your typed words.

Health care costs have been spiraling further and further out of control. The insurance companies had the american peeps by the proverbial balls. We are not currently free in our health care choices - not by a long shot.

Nah, we are free to pay up or die. It's just some of us don't like those choices. You know, those of us with working brains in our heads, and empathy for our fellow man.

The only question that remains is does Anthony Kennedy think it's constitutional to require that every person in America purchase health insurance or face a government fine.

If I were him, I'd feel pretty cool about being the single most powerful person in the country at the moment.

Do you browse Allakhazoo's in braille or something?

Edit: I'm sorry, I clearly misread that. Well, it was pretty funny for a second.
