Jophed,

And when you're current health insurance company decides to go under Obamacare I hope you'll have the coverage you need when you need.

Oh and you're not forcing me. All I have to do, and i'm seriously considering it, is drop my current coverage.

Why do I need to pay for healthcare if the govn is going to provide it for me? Why not refuse to carry it and face the small fine if I ever have to use obamacare?

Samy,

Good point. More regulation is needed.

Right on. Then we can regulate who gets what care and when. That way we can weed out the people who aren't pulling their own weight.

Maybe i'm looking at this all wrong.

Look at that! You have a choice. You should thank Obama for giving you this extra opportunity to exercise your freedom!

Hmmm, because the government won't provide it to you for free, unless you're a lot poorer than you claim to be. And why not refuse? Go for it.

Did you realize that, if you were injured, you'd still need insurance to cover that injury? Or if you get sick and need treatment, you still need to get insurance to cover that?

You'll face the fine regardless of whether you go to the doctor or not. Really, it seems that you don't really understand how the legislation works at all.

No you won't. There's that little thing called enforcement. The govn will not be able to enforce this mandate. H*ll the irs can't even keep up with the number of people refusing to pay.

If there's one government agency I don't want to get on the wrong side of, it's the IRS.

In his CNN commentary today, David Frum had some interesting things to say. This in particular caught my eye, and I agree with it so far (bolding mine):

Quote:
4) The Democratic plan requires businesses with payrolls more than $500,000 to buy health insurance for their workers or face fines of $2,000 per worker. Could there be a worse time to heap this new mandate on smaller employers? Health insurance comes out of employee wages, plain and simple. Employers who do not offer health insurance must compete for labor against those who do -- and presumably pay equivalent wages for equivalent work.

Uninsured employees have now through the exchanges been provided an easy and even subsidized way to buy their own coverage. There is no justification for the small-business fine: Republicans should press for repeal.

That platform is ambitious enough -- but also workable, enactable and likely to appeal to voters. After 18 months of overheated rhetoric, it's time at last for Republicans to get real.

The thing I like though is that it could give a hefty kick in the rear to Wal-Mart, who seems to enjoy shrugging their workers off onto our public system.
